Young genius, lyrical mastermind are the words that define such talented youth. The pivotal verses that are spit from the mind of Saheed is fierce. Music has always been in his blood for as long as he can remember, with the Capitol Problemz crew backing him to the fullest, there is no stopping the lyrical flow of Saheed. This is a prediction that is unavoidable, it is evident Miami has another next up out of its arsenal.

24: First off, give us your personal meaning behind the name Saheed?
Saheed: Well I go by Saheed because that is my government name. I feel I don’t need an aka. This name was given to me by my mother. The name Saheed is Arabic, it means “to bring happiness.”

24: Who would you say inspired you to jump into the rap game?
Saheed: I mean what really inspired me to jump into the rap game was just a build up of all the music I have been listening to all my life. You know, seeing how hip hop is nowadays, I’d really like to add my two cents in because most of these dudes out here coming up are trash and I’d like to help change it.

24: What artists, whether commercial or underground did you look up to and do you still listen to them now?
Saheed: There are a lot of artists that influenced me and I still listen to today: Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Jedi Mind Tricks, Big Pun, Big L, Common, Twista, Wu-Tang Clan and so many more!!!!

24: Word on the street is you roll with a crew called “Capitol Problemz.” Give us a general idea of what comprises “CP” and what is there main involvement to music?
Saheed: Yea these dudes opened a lot of doors for me and together we are shutting things the fuck down! What makes us so much more different from everyone else is we all have different styles…but we are all lyrical at the same time. We all want to bring back that true hip hop shit.

24: I understand you’ve performed live at several locations; can you name certain venues that you’ve left a major imprint in and know you by name?
Saheed: Well there’s one certain club performance that I’m really proud of, and that was my first performance ever, which was at Senor Frog’s on South Beach during spring break. Shout Outs to Josh the Cameraman and Nedal for that one!!!!

24: Just recently, I heard that you opened for headliner Sean Price. How’d that come about?
Saheed: Well I was out there at studio A to watch the Sean Price performance and somehow word got out that I’m a local artist and my music would be suitable for that venue so they asked me if I can go up on stage and do my thang and I did! Real positive vibe from the crowd.

24: What producers have you worked with now and plan on working with in the future?
Saheed: Well I have worked with a couple of producers. Mainly I’ve worked with Ozny…a crazy ass producer/engineer. I have also worked with Chino from 38 special productions, and O.P. from beats boy entertainment. O.P. IS THE MAN YO! Yea, but I’m currently working on my mixtape entitled “Dare to be Different.” dropping in the next month or so and Pharm Studios is on most of the production as well with Ozny and O.P.

24: There’s a certain song on your myspace page that uses some harsh lyrics, “I put the Gun to Ya.” Is there anyone in particular you are referring to?
Saheed: (Chuckles) That track is dedicated to these lil boys…I’m not gonna say there names, but these boys that wanted something I had and they couldn’t get it so dropped a whack ass diss. After they dropped a couple of weak disses I just wanted to end it all so I dropped this. Funny fact: bout 3 days after I dropped this track them same boys called me and said “I’m not gonna front that was nice, this shit is done man” Haven’t heard from ‘em since.

24: You make a bold statement when you say “Competition is Dead, Homie.” Give us your definition to that motto.
Saheed: To me it’s just like it reads. I see no competition in this game. If someone says there a rapper/emcee then there competition, there is no man that I fear. “If you Aint rollin’ wit me, then you getting run the fuck over!!!”

24: Honestly I have to say, as a young artist, your lyrics are vivid and real ruthless. What exactly flows through your mind when the beat hits the dome, when your pen hits the paper?
Saheed: Well, the second I hear a beat I think about how I’m going to flow to it. Once I know the way I’m going to flow I just let the pen do its thing. Once it’s in my hand I think about the concept of the song and see how that song relates to me and write my songs based on my life experiences.

24: Your street cred is rising as we speak, where do you see yourself 10 years from now?
Saheed: I have no clue! This world is a very crazy place and nowadays life is like a rollercoaster, full of ups and downs, so I have no idea. I just live my life and see what tomorrow brings. Wherever it is I just hope I will be heard by the people, because they’re the real reason why I am making music, the way I do. It’s not for the money, clothes, woman, or fame. It’s for the people, the listeners and lovers of music. I make music because it makes me happy to see the reactions people give me when they hear a song. To me, it’s fucking amazing because all I did was tell them a little bit about me in the song, all I did was make it rhyme.

24: Any contact information you would like the readers to know?

You can also find me on the Capitol Problemz myspace at: MYSPACE.COM/CAPITOLPROBLEMZ

24: Is there anything you would like the world to know, speak your piece?
Saheed: Yea, I would just like everyone to know that I appreciate the support! If it weren’t for the people I don’t even think I would be rapping because the people are what motivates me to keep moving. Besides that I’d like to give a couple shout outs. First and foremost I’d like to give a Shout out to the love of my life my moms for her ongoing support throughout everything I do, shout outs to my family, to all the CP niggas (Tru Classic, J.O.K., Viviid, Big Scott) shout outs to my cousin Nedal, shout outs to Josh the Cameraman, OZNY the fucking monster, shout outs to DJ Rhumble (A father figure to me throughout this rap game), www.DJRHUMBLE.COM, Pharm Studios, Headzup Clothing (Hugo & Willie), O.P., A.G., DJ Marty, 24HOURHIPHOP.COM, NORTH, SOUTH, EAST, WEST, THE WHOLE WORLD!!!
