April 13, 2009 Billboard: Hip-Hop & R&B Top 10
Why doesn’t it amaze me that Jamie Foxx is still number one? ‘Blame It’ is again for the past several weeks at the top, it seems as though people cannot get enough of this record. T-Pain and Foxx must really make a talented duet with this one, cause, honestly I’m tired of this joint. Radio play and the clubs have literally made this song quite tiring. Then right under that there’s Keri Hilson with her top notch single ‘Turnin’ Me On’ who is still in massive competition with Foxx for number one spot. Fans are indulged by Polow’s production alongside Wayne’s assisted verse. I guess these are the elements of a certified hit single. Between both Foxx and Hilson, the people have spoken and the charts are the proof. What does T.I. and The Dream have in common besides being from ATL? Well, they both have a hit single on the charts one right after the other. However, T.I.’s Philant Johnson’s tribute ballad is one step above as ‘Dead and Gone’ reigns in at number 3 this week. The JT and Timbo assisted record is moving its way up the charts battling with Hilson for number 2, it’s just that I don’t think that’s going to happen anytime soon. ‘Rockin’ That Thang’ by Def Jam’s Dream is still climbing its way up the charts proving that he can compete with the best of them. For the past 18 weeks on the charts he is still dominating. This week the Radio Killa reigns at number 4. Surprisingly still on the charts is the Soulja Boy and Sammie hit ‘Kiss Me Through the Phone.’ Nobody how you want to put it, the only part that is making this record such a hit is the damn hook. Sammie compliments the beat as his vocal talents are featured throughout the song. That song peaks in at number 5 for this week right above Ne-Yo’s Mad. How the hell is Soulja Boy above Ne-Yo? ‘Mad’ is far more liked than that of ‘Kiss Me Through the Phone.’ Either way, Ne-Yo reigns in at number 6 on the charts for this week. Maybe Ne-Yo should get with Soulja Boy and write his lyrics, cause it is evident that Soulja Boy needs assistance in area.
