Artist: Nas
Album: Hip Hop Is Dead
Label: The Jones Experience/Columbia/Def Jam

On Nas latest album and most controversial since “Stillmatic” because of its title “Hip Hop Is Dead”, Nas shows exactly why he’s amongst the elite artist in the game dead or alive. Whether you agree with Nas views on songs like “Carry on Tradition”, “Let There Be Light” featuring Tre Williams, and “Hip Hop Is Dead” featuring Will.i.am (also produced by Will.i.am) Nas proves he has a point. Production wise outside of “Still Dreaming” featuring Kanye West (also produced by Kanye West), “Black Republican” featuring Jay-Z one of the year’s most anticipated collaborations, and “Hustlers” featuring The Game & Marsha Ambrosius (produced by Dr.Dre), the album has a lack of and does not live up to its hype in my opinion. Yet in still, Hip Hop Is Dead debuted #1 on Billboards Top 200 albums selling over 355,000 copies in its first week.
