Review by: Jay Carter
After waiting 10 long years before dropping his first solo debut there will be no disputes why the “Port Of Miami” was well worth the wait. “Push It” the albums opener produced by J.R. Rotem sets the mood & tempo for the Lp from the start and producers Cool & Dre and Rick Ross makes the perfect match on tracks like “Blow” & “Boss”. Ross paints vivid pictures of his past on tracks like “Pots and Pans”(produced by J Rock) and “It’s My Time” featuring Lyfe Jennings which is one of my favorite songs on the album. Plus songs like “White House” ,”Cross That Line” featuring Akon, and “Hustlin Rmx” the follow up to the summer street anthem “Hustlin” just add fuel to the fire.
This album is sure to answer any questions about lyrics and substance in the south and places Ross in the forefront with the leaders of the south. Rick Ross even makes everyone Listenn ! to DJ Khaled production and take notice on “I’m A G” featuring Lil Wayne & Brisco (Poe-Boy aphillate and Cash Money latest signee) other notables on the album are Jazze Pha produced “For The Low”, “It’s a Problem” with Ross group Carol City Cartel and “Where My Money”. They say that hard work pays off and that just might be especially in Rick Ross case after grinding for years signing with Suave House then Slip-N-Slide and never getting his chance Ross finally got his shot aimed and hit.
