ARTIST: Timbaland
ALBUM: Shock Value
LABEL: Interscope
REVIEWED BY: Zenn

Veteran producer Timbaland has never ceased to amaze me. The release of his new compilation album “Timbaland presents Shock Value,” he definitely achieves that value. This collection of eclectic beats is a definite headnodder. He put together a diverse amount of musicians from different genres of the music industry to guest feature on his powerful instrumentals

Timbaland once said that he wanted to conquer top 40 Radio. Well, I think it is safe to say that he’s accomplished that. The first song to intro the album is a fast-paced beat with Timbaland quickly rapping above it to the song called “Oh Timbaland.” In this song, he’s directing his lyrics towards a certain individual, wonder who that could be. The next song is the catchy single still rising on the charts, “Give It To Me.”, featuring Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake. In this song, we already heard Timbaland aiming shots at fellow producer Scott Storch. I can finally say, it has gotta be Timbo who got JT cursing on track like that, now that’s comedy. As we move across the album, track 4, gives us an interesting beat that you can vibe to and take note on the lyrics. The song is tentatively titled “The Way I Are.”, it features newcomers Keri Hilson, of Zone 4 Entertainment, and D.O.E. Listen to Hilson’s soulful singing on this real catchy melody, that’s a definite club banger. I know ya’ll remember Magoo and his unique flow on several of Timbo’s old hits, well he returns and you know that’s gotta be a must. “Board Meeting.” features Magoo and the beat have a nostalgic old school feel, right from the beginning, “so clap yo hands every body.” The next song entitled “Bounce.”, got Justin Timberlake singing/rapping the hook with both Timbaland and Dr. Dre rapping provocative lyrics across the song. Listen to the hook as it gives you instructions to “Bounce, like yo’ ass got the hiccups.” Now that’s an original concept. With a mix of Missy Elliott on the final verse, you got a hit. Another newcomer, R&B singer, Money sings atop a real catchy vibe with “Fantasy.”, all I can say about that is, enjoy the ride, you’ll know what I mean. Now on “Scream.”, Keri Hilson returns a second time, but this time with pussycat doll lead cutie, Nicole Scherzinger, let’s just say, I can’t wait for the video. On the grand piano, Sir Elton John lends Timbaland his expertise on the last track“2 Man Show.” You might remember Elton John from the live performance with Eminem at the 2001 Grammy Awards, with their duet of “Stan.”

If you are looking for an album specializing in unique “shock value” beats, this is something you could pick up.
