Album: Best Thang Smokin
Label: Grand Hustle/ Atlantic Records
Review By: Jay Carter
Grand Hustle does it again with their latest signee Young Dro
and his album “Best Thang Smokin.” On his debut,
Dro makes it clear that there is more then just T.I. on the label especially
when his first single “Shoulder Lean” featuring T.I. hit
number one on Billboards R&B/Hip Hop songs. “Shoulder Lean”
was produced by LiL C (who also produced Young Jeezy “My Hood”).
He also did Young Dro's second single “Rubber Band Banks.”
Jazze Pha lends in a hand on the production side with “Fresh”,
“What It Is” and “U Don’t See
Me” featuring Slim Thug.
Young Dro makes sure to let critics and hatters alike know exactly what he’s
about on “They Don’t Really Know Bout Dro,” the albums
opener. T.I. gets back together with Dro on “My Girl”.
Dro shows another side to him on the heartfelt “Hear Me Cry”
produced by Philly’s own Chad West. The album's other highlights are “Man
In The Trunk” produced by Nitti, “Gansta”, and
“100 Yard Dash” featuring Xtaci. So on his first LP Young
Dro really showed why he’s the “Best Thang Smokin.” Don’t
believe me, check the charts.
