Hip hop artist Big Boi has announced that he will play a residency this year at the Wynn on the Las Vegas Strip. The hotel and casino resort is one of the most prominent sights on the legendary Vegas Strip and has held a slew of famous residencies over the years.

After a successful 2015, where Big Boi released his latest EP, entitled ‘Big Grams’ he has announced that the residency at the Wynn means he will play one show a month for the remainder of 2016. He will also be playing a few festival dates this summer, with him already being announced to perform at Los Angeles’ Air & Style Festival, Okeechobee Music Festival and Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival among others.

It is reported that the 7 remaining performances are going to earn Big Boi seven figures. The 41-year-old Atlanta-born rapper will be playing the following dates at the Wynn: March 12, April 16, June 22, August 20, October 1, November 12 and finally December 10.

The news of Big Boi’s upcoming residency will be music to the Wynn Resorts’ ears. The casino operators have an assortment of casinos across the world including in Macau, which is arguably Las Vegas biggest competitor when it comes to competing gaming meccas. However, the recent slump in casino gaming has caused them to post losses for the first time in over a decade last year. With many industry experts pointing the blame at the continued popularity of online portals and their cutting-edge technology whereby they are offering users 3D gaming options and live dealers, as the main reason why land-based casinos are seeing profits affected. There are now thousands of online casinos operating, which have slowly been eating away at casinos like the Wynn’s profits for years.

Regardless of the reason as to why Big Boi has found himself a regular fixture on the Strip, Vegas’s hip hop community will no doubt be happy with the news.
