New York, NY – What does Jay-Z and 50 Cent have in common as of late, besides music? Apparently, Sports. More recently, 50 Cent launched his own boxing promotions company after parting ways with Floyd Mayweather earlier in the year. And of course, we all know that Jay-Z is part owner of the Brooklyn Nets, clearly it didn’t stop there for him.

It seems as though Jay has continued his venture further into sports, as of today, he has officially launched Roc Nation Sports, a full service management company in partnership with CAA Sports. Hov didn’t waste any time either, he quickly signed New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano as his first client.

In an official press release, Jay elaborated on the reason for launching Roc Nation Sports:

“Because of my love of sports, it was a natural progression to form a company where we can help top athletes in various sports the same way we have been helping artists in the music industry for years.”

Cano, a four-time MLB All-star, World Series champion, and two-time Golden Glove Award winner, stated his comments for signing with the CEO of Roc Nation:

“I am confident that the pairing of Roc Nation Sports and CAA Sports will be essential in helping me accomplish my short- and long-term goals. I am making this important decision now so I can keep my focus on helping the Yankees succeed in 2013, while minimizing any distractions for me and my teammates.”

So of course, this verse goes without saying:

I guarantee you Jay and 50 won’t be the only artists/moguls diving head first into the sports world. I won’t be surprised if Rick Ross decides to buy in with the Miami Dolphins.
