When BET premiered the Queen Bee’s reality mini-series last Thursday (March 9), nearly 1.9 million viewers tuned in nationally. Additionally, the show currently ranks as the No. 1 original series on cable among Black households for the year so far.

“The historic success of Lil Kim’s television series comes as no surprise,” L. Londell McMillan, Kim’s entertainment attorney and the show’s Executive Producer, said via statement. “Kim is an icon with unique brand value in pop-culture.”

The six-episode reality series was produced in collaboration with Edmonds Entertainment and Queen Bee Entertainment and consists of footage captured by BET during the period right before Kim turned herself into the Philadelphia Federal Detention Center to serve her 366-day sentence.

“This reality show and her album, The Naked Truth, illustrate her captivating artistry even under the most arduous times in her life,” said McMillan. “Like Martha Stewart, she will overcome and return a better and brighter star. She would like to thank her fans for tuning in and showing her so much love.”

BET’s “Lil’ Kim: Countdown to Lockdown” airs on BET Thursdays at 9:30 p.m. EST/PST.
