Rick Ross started his news years great since he won the lawsuit against Ex drug kingpin "Freeway Ricky Ross", and can keep his name.

Freeway Ricky Ross sued the Rick Ross (born William Leonard Roberts) for using his name and his likeness. Believe it or not but the defendants also included Jay-Z, Warner Bros. They were named as accomplices for helping Rick Ross achieve success in the music industry.

According to documents The case has been going on since 2010, and judge Roger Boren ruled it "untimely" since Rick Ross has been using his stage name for several years. The California appeals court judge Roger Boren sided Risk Ross stated"

"Since Rick Ross stage persona and career were influenced by Ross himself and was not the “very sum and substance of Roberts’ work.” The ruling stands on grounds of Ross's’ constitutional right to free speech and free expression."

California appeals court judge Roger Boren stated:

“Roberts created a celebrity identity, using the name Rick Ross”, says the ruling. “He was not simply an imposter seeking to profit solely off the name and reputation of Rick Ross. Rather, he made music out of fictional tales of dealing drugs and other exploits- some of which related to plaintiff. Using the name and certain details of an infamous criminals life as basic elements, he created original artistic works.”

Freeway Ricky Ross was a Los Angeles drug lord, who made more than $3 million a day off cocaine, and served 13 years in prison. He was subsequently released 2009, but main focus has been suing Rick Ross over his name and identity. Well now Rick Ross got a lil less drama for 2014.
