Mos Def unquestionably stands up to his name by most definitely changing the Hip-Hop game. Taking the acting world by storm with movies like “Brown Sugar,” “16 Blocks,” and one of his most recent “Cadillac Records,” Mos Def (born Dante Smith) is set to guest star on the hit TV show “House.”

For those who are in the dark about this show, “House” is an American medical drama that debuted on the Fox network in November of 2004. Created by David Shore, this show is about a rude and obnoxiously cynical medical genius who is bitter from an incorrect diagnosis leading to a damaged leg and a uncontrollable addiction to prescribed painkillers. Dr. Gregory House, played by British actor Hugh Laurie, hosts a team of diagnosticians who work daily to try to save lives while dealing with the immaturity and mind games of a bitter doctor who happens to almost never be wrong.

Well
tonight at 8pm, House will take on Mos Def who plays a cancer patient who is trapped inside of is own mind unable to communicate. He can see and hear the doctors around him who are hoping to get the diagnosis correct, but to the doctors he is merely lifeless.  This episode is said to featuring Mos’ song “Life In Marvelous Times.

According to USA Today, “An already strong season of House…hits another high note with a terrific, terrifying episode…Mos Def (in a great guest turn) plays the patient”.

There is no surprise that Mos is giving these riveting performances. Most people don’t know that he studied Experimental Theatre at New York University and began his professional acting career at the age of 14, appearing in TV movies like “God Bless The Child” and most notably before his music career “The Cosby Mysteries.” Regardless of what Mos does, he brings his all, and for that he is a true artist.

Mos Def made an appearance on “Real Time” with Bill Maher on Friday March, 27, 2009, alongside Salman Rushdie, covering a wide range of topics. Also, for all those music heads out there waiting for a classic Mos Def album, wait no more. Mos Def’s new album The Ecstatic, is available June 9, 2009 on Downtown Records.  Mos Def is definitely on the rise and I’m not mad at him. Keep doing your thing Mos!

Tune into Fox tonight at 8pm, and watch Mos’ great performance.
