Lil Wayne’s Path Ends: Rikers Island

New York, NY – The time has come, redemption has reached its peak for Lil Wayne. Earlier in February Wayne was scheduled to turn himself in and begin serving his sentence for charges he concurred in 2007. His defense attorney requested additional time for Wayne to complete some business; while at the same time do some much needed dental work. During the time that Wayne was allowed before he was to be processed, you would have thought that the owner to his Young Money empire would be partying, he was far from that. His mind was set on recording some final music and appearing in videos that he was respectfully featured in. Sometime last weekend, it was reported that he had recorded up to seven videos in night with a total to be in its twenties towards the beginning of this passing weekend.

Lil Wayne was set to appear before a Judge earlier this afternoon and plead guilty to attempted gun possession, then immediately turn himself in to be processed. According to MTV News, ultimately, what Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to amounts to him being able to have access to a gun. Police did not find a weapon on the rapper when his tour bus was searched. Rather, the gun — registered to his manager — was in a bag located near the rapper, hence the “attempted” charge.

MTV News spoke to a New York Corrections Officer about Wayne’s routines while in Rikers Island. These were his comments:

“He’ll be housed with inmates who are classified in his category, and he’ll be able to be a regular inmate. He’ll be able to watch television, go into the day room and congregate with people of his classification. He’ll have no preferable treatment at all. He’ll be treated like a regular inmate.”

At press time, Wayne is expected to serve the full term of one year. Depending on his behavior while in lock up could determine whether or not he will be allowed and early release after he has already seven to eight months under incarceration.

On the real, I guarantee that Wayne will not serve the full term, he is an artist that continues to flourish and profit from all of his dedicated fans. He’ll be out in 7 to 10 months and upon his release immediately drop ‘Tha Carter IV.’ It would be a great idea just to hop back on his feet again and be back on top. Wayne keep ya head up!
