Before he blew up on a national level Plies was huge in his native Florida. Right before attiaining his current success and status in the game he was involved in a nightclub shooting which left five popeo injured with gunshot wounds. The concert was in Gainesville, Florida where Plies was co-headlining with Lil Boosie when an argument broke out between Plies’ camp and another opening performer. Shots rang out, the smoke cleared and five people were hit with Plies being arrested and held responsible.

While it was later determined Plies was not at fault and did not shoot at all that night, a civil lawsuit was filed against him seeking damages for the victims of the shooting.

“He [Plies] characterizes it as if he is the principal [shooter],” said the plaintiffs’ attorney Christopher Chestnut. “As if he is the guy, he is the gangster, he’s the thug, he’s the goon, yes that’s what he is selling and that is why we are suing him.”

However Alachua County, Florida  judge Robert Roundtree, did not agree and dismissed the lawsuit against Plies this past Friday, July 16th.

The plaintiff’s now have 20 days to file an appeal on the decision to which their attorney Chestnut says they plan on doing.
