BET aired the 2011 edition of Black Girls Rock!, bringing a joyful celebration to all women with melanin. Co-hosted by actresses Tracee Ellis Ross and Regina King, the annual event showcased the accomplishments of African-American women in all spectrums, including music, arts, science and technology, and politics.

Hitting the stage for musical entertainment for the night was a hefty line-up, including Jill Scott, Melanie Fiona, Estelle, and new songstress Elle Varner. One of the spine-riddling performances came from The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul, who touched everyone with her inspirational '90s favorite, "My Life."

Erykah Badu also took folks back… but also into the future as she kicked off the show with her "Planet Rock" influenced performance of the Baduizm gem, "Appletree." Attendees for the night also included Angela Davis and Taraji P. Henson, who both received awards and delivered lovely speeches, and more.
