24: Introduce yourself to everyone that doesn’t already know who you are.

Jay Vuitton: A brief introduction as to who I am, my name is Jay Vuitton (stage name). Nature’s very own gift is what I portray myself as, I currently reside in Canada, but only just got here. I grew up and had my life experiences in two countries being the United Kingdom & of course my motherland Nigeria. Greatness is what I see in myself & in everything I do or lay my hands upon, I’m a young man with a burning desire to achieve major success in the music industry if I am given the right opportunity & time to do so.

24: Before we get into your music, can you describe your history about how you got into and what inspired you.

Jay Vuitton: I would take you years back as to when I first realized I had the talent to make magnificent music, my early days of music began with me SINGING rather than RAPPING which I now do. My first ever track I composed/recorded was called “Again” & to my very own amazement everyone who listened to me sing on this track found it unbelievable to accept that I could do what I had done at such an early age/stage of my life, but as faith & nature would have it; I went on to compose a whole bunch of tracks/choruses which I never did record or release at the time because I took it as a hobby then. A few years down the line I began to realize that my passion wasn’t really to sing, but instead was to rap. From this stage I started training myself to compose, rhyme & write rap lyrics extremely well with the inspiration from artists such as 2pac, Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes etc.

24: What was the Hip-Hop scene like for you growing up where you’re from?

Jay Vuitton: The Hip-Hop scene for me growing up was a very enlightening one I must say, my older siblings would at the time have me listen/watch so many great acts on T.V & with me seeing the lifestyle it entailed I was inspired & from then onwards my aspirations to be great began to build up.

24: What makes you Unique as a artist and different from other rappers out now?

Jay Vuitton: Well at this point my uniqueness as an artist comes with my flow as I believe not all rappers can bounce their lyrics on a beat in the style In which I create my type of music, besides that let’s not forget I do not only have the ability to rap, but to also sing as well. With the extra help of a vocal coach I should be able to produce an amazing singing voice that the world would be astonished at. I believe I am of a different sound from any other rapper out now & this makes me different.

24: Tell us about what you are working on.

Jay Vuitton: I have just released my first ever mixtape to the world, which is titled F.U.T.U.R.E. Vol.1. I intend to begin working on a Vol. 2 and possibly Vol. 3 after that, but this will be done after I have successfully promoted and gotten the desired publicity off Vol.1. This is the general mixtape project I have in mind at the moment & will of course proceed onto greater projects as time goes on.

24: What producers have you worked with and who would you like to work with in the future?

Jay Vuitton: On an honest note, I have not worked with a lot of producers as of yet, but I have been in contact with a couple; DJ Sose (U.K/Nigeria) is one of them, check him out if you so well wish to. Producers I look forward to working with in the future are: Dr. Dre, T-Minus, Timbaland, Cool n Dre, Ryan Leslie, etc.

24: Are you happy with the feedback you have been getting from people on material you have released?

Jay Vuitton: So far so good. I’ve gotten great feedback from quite a lot of people about my mixtape, but I must say I’m not completely satisfied yet. I believe I can reach a much more larger audience and then see the impact I have on them and how they react to my music.

24: In today’s free download age, what do you need to do to make yourself a household name?

Jay Vuitton: To get my material on the most visited online music downloading sites.

24: How do you feel about the current state of the Hip-Hop scene?

Jay Vuitton: Well, I keep my eyes and ears to it, because I got to be up to date, but at the same time, I try not to pay attention too much because, it can influence you and make you go down a wrong route. I think that since Hip-Hop became more business, it creates a specific path that you would follow without even realizing it. But at the same time I love it, simply because I’m an out the box thinker that never likes to do what they do. Therefore it creates a bigger impact when I come up with completely different left field shit.

24: How do you feel about the current state of the Hip-Hop scene?

Jay Vuitton: The current Hip-Hop scene to me is at it’s best as so much great and marvelous music is being put out today. I do not understand those who say Hip-Hop is dead. I would like to know if they really do know what Hip-Hop is & it’s significance. Despite the fact that the sound or type of music that was put out in the past is quite different from what most new acts put out now, common sense should be able to show the world that time changes and so will music too.

24: Outside of the music, what else are you currently working on.

Jay Vuitton: Outside of music, I am building/working on a network of mine called “Billionaire Boys Association.” It’s an entertainment/investment body I look to bring forward into the industry as I progress with my career. There is a lot more to know about this idea I have put forward, but as time goes on I would visualize it more clearly to those who require further information about it (possibly a website).

24: Where do you see yourself going in 2012 and how do you plan to separate yourself from the other artist out today to get the recognition you feel you deserve?

Jay Vuitton: In 2012 I see myself going a long way, so long as the perfect opportunities are thrown towards my direction I would not hesitate to utilize them to my greatest advantage. I intend to stand out and get the recognition I deserve by staying humble & showing love to everyone I come across; be you a fellow artist or a fan, In other words I shall basically treat everyone with equality.
