I get a chance to sit down and get to know president/artist of Fly Money ENT, PHRESH.
Walking into my office in downtown Miami, he enters the room gold chain swinging and
with the combination of a “Phresh” fit and a unique swagger lets me know that this
inspiring artist is about his business. He is determined to take himself and his group
Fly Money ENT to the next level. Coming from Miami Phresh has to hold up to the big
names from the city such as the Flo Ridas, Billy Blue, Brisco, Rick Ross, Trick Daddy
and this young artist feels like he is the next to blow for a reason. And I’m here to
sit down with him and find out why he thinks its his time to shine.
For the people who don’t know you or have not heard of you, tell them your name and how you got started in the game.
My name Phresh, I spell it with a PH tho. The P stands for “Polo” but the PH is just to be different tho. The reason I call myself Phresh is because I’m a fresh breathe to the game. I’m fresh, anytime you see me I’m wearing Polo that’s just how I describe myself. I’m The Fly Money Ent. President.  I started rapping when I was 12, I got started when my big cousin was rappin’. One day he was writing so I wrote a verse and he said, ” That shit good you need to start rapping.” I mean even when I was younger Hot Boyz and all them boys was dropping and I remember there shit like quick. All I gotta do is hear it 2, 3 times in a row and I know it. So it was always in me, that’s how I got here. 19 and ready to blow.

That’s what it is. Now let me ask you about the project your working on now. What is the title and what can people expect from it?

The mix-tape I’m working on now is called “Presidential Shit”. For the reason being that I feel like the Fly Money president. We aint a gang, we a family but were on our grown man shit. I call myself the President, I don’t call myself the boss, I call myself “The President”. But yea the mix-tape is called “Presidential Shit”, should be hosted by DJ Meat, Street Connect DJ’s whats good. That’s what I’m really working on coming out at the end of this year. By December, a little Christmas present for the streets.
I feel you, now is this “Presidential Shit” going to be all street music or will it also have original material?
Yea I got lil remixes for Dade county, you know that’s where I’m from Dade. I keep the remixes just to keep the streets open but I also got original shit, ya feel me. I got a song called “Cant move On”, some different shit that y’all don’t really hear all the time. Its about I cant really get over my girl ….but we wont get into that ya feel me. But I got a song called “Rider Music” for the streets to let y’all know its real over here. I’m not trying to Portray a goon or nothing….but don’t try me.

Where have you been doing live performances?
Yea you can check me doing little promo shows for the mix-tape. You can catch me at your local teen club. Club G’z and Gentz, club Elks, club 56 ya feel me. You have to get the youth behind you,  just really shutting it down on Fridays and Saturdays just hit me up on my Myspace you’ll know where I’m at. I’m on every flier you always see me on the fliers ya feel me, Phresh.
With the Internet being the best tool for independent artists to create a buzz, how have you been taking advantage for yourself?
Pshh…. That’s another story. Everybody know about me “Myspace King”, I’m always on there always online promoting. Shout out to everybody on Myspace that I be doing tracks with. Myspace.com/305phresh, that’s the personal page tho. That’s just where any lady that wanna holla that’s the Myspace. But for music wise I’ve got another Myspace. Myspace.com/phreshfm you know FM as in “Fly Money” and FM radio, which I will be on soon so y’all just stay tuned.
What do you think really will make someone say they should put money behind your project?
The lyrical content always sets me away from everyone else. They always say “Phresh why you jumping on the same track that Young C or Iceberg did, like why y’all jumping on the same tracks? We jumping on the same beats but the lyrical content is so different I feel it shouldn’t matter. And that’s what’s going to separate me from a local artist to a universal artist. The music up north might not be what people down here want to hear. I feel like I’m bringing something different that everybody can relate to. That people everywhere in the Country can vibe with.
So who are a few of the artist and producers you’ve been working with?
I’ve been working with J-mo beats, you can see him on sound click he bout to make a myspace with some beats. J-mo the underrated producer of the year. Y’all gonna know him soon he’s gonna blow. But I’ve just been networking, I got a track on the way with me and MGT Murder Goon Taliban the boys who did “Lets Go Gettum”, that track on the way. Me and producer Phatboi about to work together. I’m about to buy a track from him so we gonna do it real big this next year.
Who are some of the bigger cats you’d want to work with?
Brisco, Billy Blue, C-ride , Rick Ross and Piccalo.

Ok I feel you so with a “Phresh” start on the next year what are a few of your goals for 2010?
Besides having a deal, and working on an album. I wana be on BET. Mater fact, I wanna be on BET by the end of 2010. Yea that sounds good… we going to work on that.
When that “Presidential Shit” drops where can people get a copy?
From now on when the mix tape drops I will have c.d.’s at all my shows for every body. Everybody can get a c.d., I will put it on Datpiff.com and on my Myspace I will have a link. So you can go right there and hit it on twitter , twitter/phresh305. I’m going to put up a You Tube page and make videos for all the songs. So for 2010 you will be able to see all of it.
So who is your music for, the dope boys, clubs , females?
Well I make music everybody can listen to. My music so versatile, I make music from girls to the streets, I make music bout when I use to sell weed. But I stopped all that when I started making music because I couldn’t go to jail. I caught a robbery charge, I was facing 5-7. But we good my lawyers and I handling that. I’m focused on my music I ain’t trying go to jail, just grinding.
I feel you. So who do you think sub-consciously has a great influence on your sound?
I listen to so much. Its like the way I switch up the flow and switch up the content, he can hear one track and say ” I can tell he fuck with Kanye”. Or he might hear another one and say ” I can tell he fuck with Wayne”, ya feel me. Then I jump on some street shit and they say “Oh I can tell Jeezy would jump on this”.
So along with your mix tape how is your CEO status with your group Fly Money? Do you have any other projects your working on?
Let me get this straight, we a family you know. Everybody in Fly Money can rap, but not all of them are rappers. We been doing this where everyone would freestyle just to have fun. But I’m taking this serious. We will have a mix tape of Fly Money by the end of 2010. You can go on my top and see everyone in the family.
