The BET Hip Hop Awards  had an array of fashions bless this years red carpet.  We definitely saw a few trends sweep throughout the building last night.  Nelly, DJ Drama, Nas, Joc and TI all wore vest. While the Western look made a huge presence with plaid button down shirts for the men.  Red and Black were also staple colors of the 2008 BET Hip Hop Awards worn by Pharrell, Bust Rhymes, Nas and PliesKeri Hilson looked stunning in her sweetheart cut leopard dress w/ gold accessories and cream suede slouch boots.  Ciara and her stylist kept it very goth w/ a tight zip front cow neck and pencil skirt with purple lips and nail accents.  Somebody might have been watching “True Blood” a little too much!  Rick Ross kept it high fashion throughout the show sporting Fendi jackets in black and gold.  Also did anyone notice Ross’ diamond shades, now those were “Boss”!

50 Cent
was no surprise, his fashion has been slipping for a while now.  50 graced the carpet wearing a grey plaid suit jacket and vest, a redish pick plaid button down shirt underneath that and black slacks?  Big Boi was also a huge disappointment, we weren’t sure if scattered showers were fore casted in ATL, wearing black rain boots with a all denim matching jean suit.  Jim Jones actually made his presence known wearing a black cable knit sweater with bold silver hardware for the buttons topped of with a matching knit skully and platinum accessories.  Soulja Boy rocked the Criss Cross look wearing his Parish jeans backwards  while Bow Wow took a little swag from Kayne with his glow in the dark topstiched hoody set.  YoYo also let us know that she was back and still had it in her black cat suit and gold knee boots.

Over all I must say I was a little disappointed with the fashions at the BET Hip Hop Awards.  It seemed as if many just got dressed as they do to go to any other function on a regular day basis.  The hip hop fashion world has always never followed any guidelines to begin with but I feel there should be a standard when it comes to any type of award ceremony and Fashion.  So Hip Hop lets step up our fashion.  For more information log onto www.hchacouture.com
