Nicki Minaj getting sued over wig venture?
I swear celebrities getting sued is a daily thing, I know they sick of it. So apparently now Nicki Minaj is getting sued, Nicki's former wig artist Terrence Davidson has filed suit against Minaj for selling uncredited designs. Really??
CNN reported that Nicki Minaj’s former wig artist has filed suit for $30 million in damages against the rapper. Terrence Davidson, who allegedly designed a series of wigs for the artist, is seeking damages for stolen and uncredited designs.
Davidson alleges that Minaj (real name Onika Miraj) and her agents shunned him and took active steps towards hurting his career. Davidson has previously worked for big names like Patti LaBelle, Remy Ma. Davidson began working for Nikki in early 2010 to 2013.
The suit states, "Without Mr.Davidson's knowledge and consent, Maraj surreptitiously cut Mr.Davidson out of their wig venture misappropriated is wig designs to persue a wig venture of her own."
"Nicki Minaj is reaping great success and financial bounty reward for Terrence's creative expertise, and he is entitled to participate in that," his lawyer Christopher Chestnut states. "On its face you might think, what this guy is suing over wigs," he said. "But we really have to consider this in context. Hair is a multibillion-dollar industry, but moreover these are not your grandma's wigs. These are eclectic. They are decadent, and they are creative. This is about a brand that Terrence has built."
Davidson also alleges that, with Minaj, he also planned to launch a collaborative business based on the wig designs that was to include the production of a reality show before the star and her management distanced themselves from the wig artist.
These cases are getting more frequent and frequent and very annoying. If she paid for the wigs and his services, what else does she owe him. I'm no lawyer so someone please enlighten me.
