Artist: Alicia Keys
Album: The Element Of Freedom
Label: J Records
I am a strong believer in the saying “If it’s not broke don’t fix it” and I think Alicia Keys and J Records is as well. Debuting her fourth album “The Element of Freedom” and setting things off with “Doesn’t Mean Anything” as her first single it’s definitely safe to say Alicia Keys is a future legend and doesn’t need to follow trends or keep up with them. If your a fan, she gives you what you need overtime out. Ms. Keys won’t drop an album every year but when she drops an album it’s felt by all, all age groups, gender, creed or color. On records such as “Trying Sleeping With A Broken Heart” is a sure ladies favorite and “Un-Thinkable” more of a fellas favorite which was actual co-written by Drake. The biggest mistake on this album has to be the collaboration between Ms.Keys and Beyonce on “Put It in A Love Song” which is more a Beyonce vibe and record more than an Alicia Keys track. So I see what the idea was but I definitely think a slow tempo-ballad would of been much better. Still in all with records like “Love Is A Disease”(which I think Reggae Star Jah Cure would of been perfect on) and “Like The Sea” it’s safe to say this album will definitely give Ms.Keys a few nominations at the Grammys. More highlights on the album are “Wait Till You See My Smile” and “That’s How Strong My Love Is”.
