With two certified gold albums under his belt and hits like “Slow Down”, Bobby Valentino is back at it again with his third studio album oddly entitled “Rebirth.” Initially when hearing the title, probably like most, I expected to hear something a little different from Bobby V. Instead, I was surprised to discover that this album was very much familiar to my ears and very similar to his previous two albums. The first official single for “Rebirth” is “Beep” featuring Young Joc. This song has already received many positive reviews and major radio play. The song’s upbeat tempo and catchy hook are two incredible ingredients for a hit single. Like always, Valentino’s album offers classic R&B tracks such as “My Girl” and “Stay With Me.” These are the type of songs that make you want to snuggle up with that special someone and just vibe to the music. 

“Just Me and You” featuring Raphael Saadiq is Bobby V’s rendition of the group Tony Toni Tone’s classic song of the same title. This song was a smooth joint, Valentino took the risk of recreating a song written and performed by one of the actual producers of this album. I absolutely enjoyed this version and hopefully Mr. Saadiq feels the same, it was a modern twist on an “old school joint” and I believe he did the song justice. “Hands On Me” and “3 Is The New 2” are two very grown and sexy tracks on the album which explain how to get it started right; “3 Is The New 2” speaks on ménage trios. In this song, Bobby V is hoping that his girl will bring her friend home for a little extra adult fun. “Hands On Me” is a smooth club track that in my opinion, will be a great single for “Rebirth”.  “Give Me Your Heart” is a love ballad that stands out the most on the album, this masterpiece has a gospel-like feel to it. With the piano and the electric guitar beautifully bellowing, it proves to be different from the rest, making this song easily one of the best on the “Rebirth” album. The rest of the tracks were well done, production was amazing, and all in all, if you’re looking for that classic R&B Bobby Valentino album, this is definitely it! To no surprise, only a week after it’s release this album is #1 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.
