Artist: Jay-Z
Mixtape: I’m Bout A Dollar
Hosted by: DJ 31 Degreez
Label: Def Jam/Roc-A-Fella
The title alone describes a certain subliminal diss that we were all aware of at one point in time. Jay-Z once rapped ‘I’m bout a dollar, what the fuck’s a 50 Cent.’ Coincidentally that is where the title of this mixtape came from, even though the mixtape doesn’t address 50 at all, the humorous title was something I felt needed a proper explanation. This DJ 31 Degreez’ mixtape is a collection of old school, new school, and official remixed tracks from the legendary Hov himself. Let’s be real any new material from Jay-Z is worth a review. The old school joints included in this massive collection brings back many memories with my days in high school. As a matter of fact, Jay-Z has a plethora of material that we all have so many to choose from. Jay-Z was a major icon in the history of Hip-Hop up until now and yet he continues to make music regardless of all the business ventures he has his hands in. Mad props to DJ 31 Degreez for this interesting collection of Hov tracks he has compiled into one. The mixtape features tracks he’s recorded with Kanye West, Nas, Lil Wayne, Ludacris, Jadakiss, Young Jeezy, and Rihanna. At the same time, you’ll also be interested in the exclusive freestyles that were included into the mix.
On the real, if you’re a dedicated Jay-Z fan and enjoy his old and new material, this is something you would want to pick up to bump in car, while your working out at the gym, or just vibin’on your free time. Tracks include: ‘Brooklyn Go Hard,’ ‘Jockin,’ ‘Hard Knock Life,’ ‘Success,’ ‘Put On (Remix),’ ‘Go Hard (Remix)’ ‘My President is Black (Remix),’ and ‘Mr. Carter.’ As of now, we await his ‘supposed’ best album to date ‘The Blueprint 3,’ this album should sell more than a million copies, first week or not, it’ll still sell….
