Mixtape: The Product, Vol. 6
Serving as one of the south’s premier mixtape DJ’s, Dephtone has never let us down with his coveted street series The Product, and vol. 6 only adds to that legacy. Teaming up with ATL-ien Gorilla Zoe, Dephtone delivers 27 tracks of that pure street shit we’ve come to know and love from The Product series.
Starting with the intro Dephtone and Zoe set the tone for the record letting us know they’ve got the best product on the street. Zoe goes in hard on every track to live up to this claim and Dephtone’s mixing and command of the tape provide the perfect backdrop for Zoe’s gravely rough voice. “The Corner” with Sean Kingston is a standout track on the tape which has been getting some radio love lately. Here Zoe spits lines to a lady about how he would much rather be with her but instead has to grind the only way he knows how to make ends meet.
“Juicebox” featuring label mate Yung Joc is another good cut where Zoe lets the ladies know he can “make a juice box wet, wet, wet, wet,” when he “Goes hard like a rock/and pogo stick a bitch until she yells stop!”
But don’t think Zoe has gone soft and turned into LL Cool Zoe. Tracks like “51 Rounds”, “Dirty Paper”, and “Ski-Mask” let us know Zoe still has plenty of the street tales that solidified him early on. Also the way Dephtone incorporates his mixing and cinematic style of bringing the tape together give the music a very real and gritty feel.
The features on the mixtape are no slackers either with Lil Wayne appearing on 3 of the 27 tracks and also appearances by Jody Breeze, Yung Joc, Sean Kingston, Roccett, and
Dope lyrics, tight beats and superb mixing make sure that The Product name and franchise will live on very healthily with this addition. Both Zoe and Dephtone really go in on this one to give us the cleanest and strongest product on the mixtape market in a long time now.
