When Mr. Givenchy Royal
AKA Statz441 grabs the mic’ he commands all the attention with catchy
word play and staying true the infamous gritty southern style of FLA.
Preparing for his next and most anticipated album he prepares us for
what to expect on his latest mix tape collaboration with DJ Jooz titled
“You Ain’t Built Like Me”.

The opening of the album starts
off in full drive with Statz flowing over a Yes Rock sample (Owner of
a lonely heart).

Statz displays his word play
and braggadocios flow on the album’s title track Built like me. Following
the opening song Built like me is the album’s high light song “Outta
Here”
where Statz surprisingly enough holds his own with Hip Hop’s
latest tycoon “Featuring Lil’ Wayne”. Unfortunately, Lil Wayne
didn’t give a star studded performance on this song leaving Statz
to carry most of the weight on his own.

The album finds itself going
downhill towards the middle and makes an attempt to pick up the pace
on the Song Play in it. Easily mistaken for a Plies knock off he does
his best to hold the ladies attention while describing his sexual skills
over a Regina Bell sample. The song is catchy however, it’s very unoriginal.
It seems that Statz seems to have slight identity crises throughout
the album with the various style switch ups ranging from Plies, Lil
Wayne
and Young Jeezy. However, on the song ‘Living to Die for tomorrow’
we find Statz at his most personal moments of the entire mix tape. The
momentum picks back up at the end of the mix tape on the track Vision
Mistake. An instant club banger and radio friendly song produced by ‘B.O.U.L.E.’ Vision Mistake has a very sexy upbeat vibe and has the potential
to be one of the most popular club songs for the summer of 2009.

In my opinion this was a very
well put together collaboration between Statz and Jooz and overall the
mix tape is worth checking out and it’s an exceptional prequel to
his up and coming album.
