Artist: Iceberg
Mixtape: Strictly for the Streets
Hosted by DJ Obscene & DJ Kronik
Label: Dunk Ryders/Cash Money
Many artists in Miami are normally overlooked, while some actually make enough noise to make his name known amongst larger circles. One artist made his name literally through his music. He is a certified Dunk Ryder, an official Cash Money signee, and definitely not to be underestimated by any means, by saying so; evidence proves his lyricism is above average. The Son of Miami or better yet Iceberg has never been afraid to take his content to different levels. His latest mixtape provides much of the criteria that I am referring to. On a level of realism, any new material that he releases will eventually become a street hit overnight.
The title ‘Strictly for the Streets’ is simply that, a street album for his dedicated street fans that push and vibe to his music on a regular. I must admit the beats he chose to freestyle upon exhibit much of his versatility on different styles. With very few guest features on the mixtape, he practically carries it all on his own. Providing different storylines for each track some live and some narrative, the flow and the lyrical content is quite abundant. And if you’re from Miami, it’s not hard to figure out the things that he is referring to, as most of the subject matter deals with his surroundings. ‘Strictly for the Streets’ is on point and definitely something you can bump to in the car. Kronik and Obscene put together a monster with this one.
On the real, if you’re looking for some Miami bangers or you’re a fan of Iceberg then you really need to cop this from anywhere, it’s around. The mixtape is straight full of bangers, between lyricism and delivery, the sound that you’re looking for is all there. The acclaimed Son of Miami went in on this one, straight up! Look out for feature verses from Trick Daddy, Brisco, and Lunch Money.
