Artist: Jay-Z
Album: Kingdom Come
Label: Def Jam
Review by: Jay Carter
Addicted to the game, Jay-Z is back from retirement and stepping
out of his corporate meetings at Def Jam and back into the booth at Baseline
studios. On the new album ‘Kingdom Come’ Jay-Z shows exactly why he
is the best rapper alive, hands down from the album opener ‘Prelude’
produced by B-Money to the final track ‘Beach Chair’. So with his first
album without Damon Dash & Kareem “Biggs”
Burke, Jay-Z tells his side of things on “Lost Ones” produced
by Dr.Dre. Kanye West adds his soulful touch
on the production side with ‘Do You Wanna Ride’ featuring John
Legend and Just Blaze leads things off with the first
single off Kingdom Come, ‘Show Me What You Got’ that’s burning
up the charts (currently # 3 on Billboard Hip Hop& R&B) and airwaves
everywhere. Other key tracks on the album are ’30 Something’ produced
by Dr.Dre, ‘Anything’ featuring Usher (produced by
The Neptunes), and ‘Minority Report’ featuring Ne-Yo
where Jay-Z touches on New Orleans before and after hurricane Katrina.
