 Leaving his home town of Cleveland, OH Kid Cudi started out working his way up around the underground scene. Sooner than later good things would start to happen for him. Cudi ended up being managed by Plain Pat who actually works as Kanye West’s A&R even though at first Kanye passed on Cudi. It was actually Mr.West’s DJ A-Track who saw the first potential in the up and coming artist’s “Day N Nite” single. DJ A-Track then signed Kid Cudi to a single deal through his indie label “Fool’s Gold” where artists such as Kid Sister are signed to which some might remember from the single “Pro Nails” ft Kanye West.

When the record started taking off it made it way all the way to a club in England which was enough for Kanye to figure that it was time to sign the new artist to his label G.O.O.D. Music. With such a huge buzz after dropping the video for “Day N Nite” most listeners such as myself weren’t really sure what to expect from his album. The second release “Make Her Say” ft Common and Kanye West. Kanye used a sample from Lady Gaga’s popular song “Poker Face” record which worked perfectly to introduce the album to the world.

But “Man on The Moon” is far from your normal rap album, it’s more of a album that you might expect from the likes of Andre 3000 with records such as “Pursuit of Happiness” ft Ratatat and “Sky Might Fall“. Personal favorites like “Cudi Zone” and ” Hyyerr” make Kid Cudi an “Artist” to definitely look out for in the future years to come. Even though I don’t think this album was a great album, there is a need for a balance of different artists and music and this album highlights Cudi creating his own lane. More key tracks are “Soundtrack 2 My Life“, “Simple As” and of course “Day N Nite“.
