Artist: R.Kelly
Album: Untitled
Label: Columbia
Musically I think R. Kelly is definitely the R&B King, but with his latest effort I’m not sure he’s living up to that standard. On songs like “Number One” ft Keri Hilson to “Echo” and “Bangin’ The Headbord ” gives you flashes of Kelly at his best. But then “Untitled” also gives you the Kelly who is doing more following then leading. An making songs similar to everyone else like “Crazy Night” ft R.City which sound like Jim Jones “Pop Champagne” and “Like I Do” which sounds like something off The Dream album. Not to mention “Superman High” ft Oj Da Juiceman which sounds like R. Kelly just trying to stay afloat and reaching. I also most felt like after the Trey Songz diss to Kells over Jay-Z‘s “D.O.A.” that he would actually see Trey’s point about R.Kelly setting the bar for R&B and not following a T-Pain and doing an Auto-Tune record. Still in all records like “Go Low” makes “Untitled” something to stil check out but not over appreciate though. Other highlights are “Text Me” and “Pregnant” ft The Dream & Tyrese“.
