Proving that people may die but good music will live on forever, we get the final album from Texas hip hop legends U.G.K. U.G.K. 4 Life’ is the last installment of the country rap tunes that we have come to know and love the group for after the passing of Pimp C, the outspoken and charismatic producer of the group . The album starts off with a foreword from the Pimp letting the fans know that this album will have the group going out on a high note. Overall this album does live up to what we expect from the group, gangsta rhymes with a grown man’s perspective from Bun and straight shit talkin from the one and only Pimp C.

U.G.K.  is known for the smooth production from Pimp C. U.G.K. music could be the backdrop for an updated Shaft movie with the way Pimp plays with guitar licks and snares to create a slow and bluesy atmosphere. This album is no different and sticks to the same formula. “Still On The Grind” is the first time we hear the duo actually rap on the album and as usual Bun sets it off with his standard staccato fire rapid flow while Pimp C draws us in with his laid back flow about the game he dwells in, that of course being the game of pimps and tricks, bitches and ho’s. Tracks like “She Loves It” have some classic Pimp C lines like “…a bald head pussy ain’t shit, bitch go and grow and some hair and make yourself legit!” Who else but Pimp?

The album’s features are top notch as well as U.G.K. only relies on fellow veterans such as themselves to join in on the party. With Snoop Dogg, Too Short, 8 Ball & MJG,  and even the original Mr. Biggs himself, Ronald Isley falling through on tracks it makes the album feel more complete and adds a little variety to the mix. The only downfall on the feature tip is the horrible Akon assisted and produced “Hard As Hell”. U.G.K. and Akon are both great artists in their own respective right but this one just isn’t working. It is one of the few times in the group’s whole musical history where it feels like their reaching.

U.G.K. 4 Life
is a definite banger and a must have for U.G.K. fans. With these guys you know what your gonna get and on this one they deliver to the fullest. The only downside to this whole experience is knowing that with the passing of Pimp C we will never hear this group again coming out with new music. So go cop that U.G.K. and show your support for Bun and Pimp.

“It’s still Pimp C bitch, so what the fuck is up, puttin powder on this dick cause I got big fuckin nuts!”

“U.G.K. 4 Life!”
