Artist: Wyclef Jean

Album: The Carnival Vol. II: Memoirs of An Immigrant

Label: Ruffhouse/Columbia Records

Wyclef is
definitely keeping his origins as he takes you back to the Carnival for a re-visiting. This time, however, he tells the
memoirs of an immigrant, the album is a whole journey into art of different
genres of music intertwined with the taste of hip-hop flavor.  With the same eclectic beats as we heard from
the first Carnival visit, he equips this album with the interest of hearing all
the songs for the first go around, originality at its best. With a versatile
array of talented artists, Wyclef takes you on a journey into his memoirs while
visiting the Carnival.

The album opens up into a song titled “Riot” that features Serj Tankian of rock group sensation System of a Down and also Jamaican star
Sizzla. The beat is impeccable, the
sound of guitar distortion echoes through your speakers with magnificence. As
it flows into the next song, this we all already heard of, the “Sweetest Girl”
features Akon, Lil Wayne, and introducing the talents of Niia. If you listen to the hook as Akon sings it for you, you begin
to hear the reminiscent verse of the Wu
Tang Clan’s C.R.E.A.M.

T.I. graces the
track on “Slow Down”, which is the second time we heard T.I.P. on a Clef track. Shakira adds her magnificent voice to
yet a second notable, “King & Queen.” Mary
J. Blige
also makes a sequel appearance alongside Wyclef, in hopefully
another “911,” called “What About The Baby?” But you already know they sound good
together regardless.

But on the real, if you’re a true Wyclef fan, you need to
check this out. He always releases his best and his best can only be judged by
ya’ll. Listen to the beats, the words, and vibe along with him.

Other notable tracks include: “Heaven’s in New York”, “Selena”, the 13 minute track
