Dark Knight Rises is only on it’s 3 day of release and is on track to rake in well over $160 million, despite the recent tradgedy following opening night in Colorado.
Hollywood studios are holding off on the official box office reposts, out of respect for those affected by the shooting in Aurora on Friday. But The Hollywood Reporter is estimating the film will take in a great $160 million. Previous estimates were closer to the $170 million range.
This will make Christopher Nolan’s third “Batman” film the highest grossing 2D release ever in time, and will beat the opening of last year’s “Dark Knight”, which capped out at a $158.4 million in its first weekend.
The official amounts will be released later today.
