From
the start when Dj Khaled introduced him to the music industry, we knew he would
be a force to be reckoned with. Ace Hood also referred to as “Gutta” has been making noise
in the music for some time now. His first single “Cash Flow”
introduced us to Ace Hoods rap ability his follow up singles would not
disappoint either. With two albums under his belt and a third about to be
released shortly titled “Mr. Hood” it’s not hard to see why Ace Hood
stays on the list of today’s top Emcees. 24hourhiphop.com sits down with
“Ace Hood” to speak about his past projects, upcoming mix tapes and
everything else “Ace Hood”
24: How did it feel to be
the first artist’s signed to DJ Khaled’s imprint “We The Best”?
It
is a blessing and upmost pleasure. I feel like for anyone to be the first
artist signed on any label is big in every aspect but for the most part it felt
and feels unreal to have this opportunity.
24: What have you learned
thus far in your time in the music industry?
Always
work hard. Perfect your craft and always stay relevant. Being humble is also
definitely a main factor! My thing is “Getcha money stay focused”
24: How did your first
single “Cash Flow” Come about?
Cash
flow just really came off vibes. I never forget that day in the circle studio! It
was a record I let marinate wit the assistance of The Runners, Kevin Cossom, the
big homie T-pain and my brotha Rick Ross. Our creative thoughts made it the
huge hit it is today.
24: Which album of the two
that you have released would you say you are most proud of and why?
I would
definitely have to say “Gutta” just because its going to always be a
special album because it is was my first actual introduction to the game! In
addition, many people took heed to the album. It was definitely a favorite! and
just to have a first album was a blessing, let alone a second.
24: I am aware you have a
new mixtape titled “No
Pressure” coming out real soon. Tell me a bit about the mix tape and
when you plan on releasing it.
Basically
“No pressure” is just the state of mind I am in now. It’s just me
explaining to the people that it’s never been pressure on me at all. My time is
definitely surfacing! I observe a lot and I honestly know I’m one of the best
at what I do .What I have planned for the upcoming future is amazing, it
is my takeover! They should be worried. It’s time to wake me up but for me it’s
no pressure!
24: Which record would you
say was the biggest one you have featured on or released?
I
would say Ride has thus far been my
biggest record according to my female fan base.
24: Any date yet for the new album?
Not
really focused on a date. At the moment, just continuing work flow. Just
waiting for the perfect time to drop this nuclear bomb of what I call a hit
when the time is right!! Stay tuned for that problem!
24: Who are some the artist that
inspired you growing up past or present?
Growing
up, I listened to the T.I., Soulja Slim, Lil Wayne, The Hotboys of course the
legends Biggie and Pac. Just good music and real hip-hop.
24: Is there any artist’s or producers you have not
worked with yet that you would like to in the future?
People
I would like to work with… Anybody who is willing to do great music. I definitely
want to get it in wit Polow Da Don, T.I., Young Jeezy, Melonie Fiona, Swizz
beatz, would love to work with Alicia keys and Beyonce maybe in my later years
of music.
24: What do you think about
the current state of hip-hop and when it’s all said and done what do you want
to be remembered for the most?
Hip
hop changes everyday. Seems like you just have to roll wit the punches I guess.
Not sure if I can call it hip hop but its music I would say that for the
moment. I just want to be remembered by my name and the hunger I bringing
back into game! You can always say I gave em’ dat motivation music.
24: Besides music is there
any other projects or ventures you are involved in or thinking about doing such
as Movies, Clothing Line etc?
Beside
music I have a couple things in the works. I don’t really like to elaborate
until it’s actually done, but I am looking into different endorsements,
building my Dollaz N Dealz label as a force, movies and modeling, etc.
