It’s been a long time coming for the Opa Locka Goon, throughout all his trials and tribulations he’s been patiently waiting for his own time to rotate to the front. Watching his brethrens move ahead of him and keeping the loyalty in his heart and soul, his time is now up for the reckoning. The 5 Star Poe Boy General is finally up to par and Miami is holding him down strong. Brisco still has the world and the universe in the palm of his hands and is more than ready to let loose his ailment through music, still trying to heal the streets with his Street Medicine. Poe Boy and Cash Money are on the verge of releasing the most anticipated artist to date for the world to finally perceive through music.
Without further do, this is the Re-Up to the first exclusive interview he did for 24hourhiphop.com. For the second go around, Brisco has set aside some time from his busy recording schedule to answer some questions and issues that fans have been pondering about for some time now. Let him explain to you what has been going on lately with the Opa Locka Goon.
24: How has everything been since the last time we talked?
Brisco: I’m a little bit richer, Young Money, Cash Money, Poe Boy, Triple C’s still the label. Look out for that album Street Medicine, we still prospering and getting money.
24: Before we get into your highly anticipated album, let’s discuss you for a moment. You recently ran into some legal problems, can you tell us a little bit more about that?
Brisco: Violation of probation, did my time, I’m off probation, now I’m back in the studio.
24: On a phone conversation with your manager, Mo Money Jit, he explained to us that he will be voluntary surrendering to the Indian River authorities at the beginning of April, how is that affecting you?
Brisco: Big adjustment, he handles a lot of my business. He got some dues to be paid nonetheless; so we just all gotta be patient until he gets back on the block.
24: We all recently saw you at the Rick Ross Album Release Party; word has it you were released that same night and made it to the concert, now just to clarify, what the fans don’t know is that you were 2 and half hours from the venue in Indian River County, can you enlighten us on that whole surprise cameo appearance?
Brisco: They let me out and I basically made it straight to Club Mansion. It was crazy, as soon as I got there, I went on stage and the crowd went crazy, it was definitely unexpected.
24: So did that short period time set you back at all or you still on schedule with your music?
Brisco: Shit, nah, I was writing inside, when I was locked up the whole time. It never held me back; I was just polishing my skills, just thinking a little more clearly.
24: Now let’s get into your music, lately I’ve noticed that your style, delivery, and lyrical matter have gone to the next level, where does all that inspiration come from?
Brisco: Basically, just trying to polish up my skills, of course I had to take it to the next level. I’m doing what I’m doing; I’m in control right now.
24: Recently, the fans heard you feature on Birdman’s track Grind and now Rick Ross’ Reppin My City, how has life been after those guest spots and can you tell us what track you’re appearing on ‘Tha Carter 3’?
Brisco: Busta Rhymes, Lil Wayne on ‘Tha Carter 3’ featuring Brisco, produced by David Banner, it’s a crazy record, when you hear it you gonna know it’s real, you gonna know its Trilla. Rick Ross, ‘Reppin’ my City,’ you already know, Triple C them boys, you know, we just delivered a record for the hood, another good record for the M.I.Yayo. Shouts out to Rick Ross, album in stores right now, shouts out to the ‘Tha Carter 3’ coming to ya in your chest early, ya’ll go get that.
24: The last time we talked, 24hourhiphop.com delved into your history; now let’s get into your present and future. Next up is ‘Street Medicine,’ your most highly anticipated debut album; can you give us an update on that? I know fans are dying to know the verdict.
Brisco: We’re looking for a June, early July release, I’m going hard on this album, ‘Bitch, I’m Me, the single, the follow up is ‘Just Know Dat.’
24: After the huge success of ‘Bitch, I’m Me,’ when will we get to hear the next official single?
Brisco: Like I said, the official single is ‘Just Know Dat’ produced by Mister Beats. Old school fused with new school millennium rap, keep you moving, keep the clubs dancing, keep them ladies dancing, just know dat.
24: On that same phone conversation with Mo Money Jit, he released breaking news that you will grace the stage with the Best Rapper Alive, Lil Wayne, on his Tha Carter 3 tour; can you tell us about that?
Brisco: We going to visit all the cities, getting with the press and media, it’s going to be real big for the setting up of my album Street Medicine, like I said, late June, early July release, you already know. The whole tour is going to be crazy, put us two together, you already know.
24: What does the future hold for the 5 Star Poe Boy General?
Brisco: Brisco, the Opa Locka Goon, debut album ‘Street Medicine.’ On all the hardest albums already out, Flo Rida’s ‘Mail on Sunday’ number 1 in the world, Rick Ross’ ‘Trilla’ number 1 in the world, you already know how we do. Just a whole lot of big things, a whole lot of money, whole lot of situations and things like that.
