24: We recently bumped into
you in Miami this past Memorial Day Weekend. Was there other reasons Besides
the festivities that you where in Miami.I came in contact with your
“Memorial day weekend Playlist CD” as well. I must admit it hasn’t
left the playlist since. Tell me a bit about the CD and what made you want to
release that collection of records in a mixtape format?
This was
the second mixtape playlist I’ve released… the first one was for “NBA
All-Star Weekend” which you can download free at (drum-squad.com/mixtape)
– I’m out in Miami promoting of course the current “Memorial Day Weekend
Playlist” mixtape, my single “I Got Em” ft Gucci Mane & J
Futuristic as well as networking with DJs, clothing lines, and clients seeking
beats, hooks, etc. And last but not least wrapping up a few videos with Jordan
Tower with artist J Futuristic “Money Don’t Make Me” which I produced
and a video for my single “I Got Em”

24: In what ways do you feel you have grown from
when you first came out to now?

My
music has grown dramatically as technology has…better equipment, more sound
upgrades, cleaner instruments, etc… but I evolved from a beatmaker into a
multi-platinum producer… this comes from delivering consistently and turning
opportunities into success.

24: You have produced a hand
full of records for Gucci Mane. How did you and him meet?

Me
and Gucci Mane had been bumping into each other a couple times back in ‘03 when
he was back and forth from Birmingham… I connected again with him at Big Cat
studio once and recorded a couple records… we were cool for a long time
before we had done any work together.

24: What do you feel keeps these mega-artists
coming back to you for production?

I
consider myself to be a therapist, which is much deeper than just a music
producer… I encourage the artist I work with, motivate them to try new
things, figure out what they may have done wrong on a previous album and
deliver the key ingredients into having a profitable situation. People feel comfortable
working with me and consistently which is another key component in attracting
and maintaining clientele.

24: At this point in your music career
what do you feel separates you from other producers?

My
broad ear and versatility… I feel like I can be #1 in ANY genre of music

24: What advice can you give
to an up incoming producer trying to get noticed? And what kind of advice would
you give a producer on the rise already with a few records under there belt
trying to work with more  majors and get more placement?

Incoming
producers trying to get noticed should focus on finding that 1 artist that you
can brand yourself with… once u get a couple jams on 1 artist always attracts
more people to want to work with you… producers on the rise already seeking
work with more majors should have there management setup meetings etc, with the
suggested artist or request some sort of email for music submission.

24: With so many hits under your belt
and so many hood anthems loved by your fans if you had to pick 4 of your
personal favorites that you have produced which ones would they be?

Put
On, Money To Blow, Standing Ovation, Here I Am

24: Tell me a bit about “Put
On” and “Money To Blow” how did they come about and how did
these specific artist get on them?

“Put
On” – I made the beat in my home studio and made it specifically for
Jeezy… sent it to him and the rest is history…
“Money To Blow” – got a phone call from one of Drake’s people that he
wanted to work with me… we met at Hot Beats back in 07… I played some music
for him and he picked out a couple beats… the first one he pulled up was the
“Money To Blow” beat and he went in the booth and started recording
the hook and went on to do 1 verse… that was all he did at that time… about
a couple weeks later the song had been leaked on the internet (youtube) and
about another year later I recieved a phone call from Birdman’s people wanting
to purchase the record, etc… the rest is history

24: What do you look for in new artist’s
you work with?

Something
new and fresh… it has to motivate me or make me WANT to be a part of it

24: Tell me about your
current plans for your imprint label “DrumSquad”

The
first plan for us as a label is to connect with the people… We’re currently
in our mixtape stages and focusing on introductory statuses that enable us a
positive connection with the fans.. We have several acts, artists, producers,
songwriters, albums, projects in development which can be seen at (drum-squad.com)
and current mixtapes can be downloaded for free at (drum-squad.com/mixtape)

24: Besides music production
is there any other ventures you are currently involved in or currently pursuing?

kid’s website (skid-e-kids.com) which is an educational platform
and networking site for kids

24: For all are producers
paying attention can you let them know what equipment your currently making
your HITS on?

DB-Triton,
MPC4000, Pro-tools, Logic, Roland Fantom

interview let the world know what they need to be on the look out for and drop
some info for those artist’s with budgets or even new acts trying to submit
music
