24: Who influenced you to get into music?
Jibbs: My older brother influenced me. By the
time I was 7 we had a full studio in the house my brother at the time was making
beats for everyone in St.Louis (Nelly, Chingy to name a few) then Nelly came out
and sold 10 million records, so that influenced me even more.

24: How did you get signed to Geffen?
Jibbs: I got signed because I have been grinding
by the time I was 11. I was battling and beating dudes that were 18, 21, 24
but most importantly winning. So after that I became known around St. Louis
for battling and by the time I was 14 my brother felt like I was ready so we
started recording songs and shopping my demo. Every label loved it but Geffen
came last and came with the best offer.

24: What was the process like going into
making your first album?

Jibbs: The process for recording my album all
came naturally because from the day I recorded my first song I never stopped
recording so when it came time to do the album I had songs.

24: What’s your favorite song on
the album?

Jibbs: My favorite song on the album is a track
called “Hood” because it talks about where I come from, where I
grew up in the worst part of St. Louis and most importantly it’s sending
a message to teenagers or all people period about what are going to do with
your life while you still have time.

24: Describe your style, because I feel
like your flow differs from any other teenage artist out?

Jibbs: Yeah, I would describe my style as versatile
and different from any other rapper and I can switch it up fast to slow or do
a party song to a song about the hood.

24: What do you think are the advantages
& disadvantages of being in the music industry at such a young age?

Jibbs: The disadvantages are that you’re
up against a lot of talented artist. The advantages are that there’s a
lot of teenager’s and grown men that want what I got. They want to be
in the game. I look at it like I’m going to do it to the fullest and be
one of the best in the industry one day.

24: With your first single “Chain
Hang low” being successful did you feel any pressure choosing a second
single?

Jibbs: No not at all because with my second
single my style being so versatile I knew everyone would have to adapt to it
because no one really knew what “King Kong” meant that’s why
I explain it in the song.

24: Speaking of your second single it’s
called “King Kong” and features Chamillionarie, who produced that
track?

Jibbs: My older brother DJ Beats and his partner
Reace Beats they also produced “Chain Hang Low”, and my third single
coming out featuring Melody of The Pussy Cat Dolls.

24: I recently saw you on the Scream
5 tour how has that been going so far?

Jibbs: That went real good, this was my first
major tour I was on and it was a real good experience I got to see places I
never seen like Madison Square Garden I thought I’d never step foot on
that stage.

24: What’s a day like for you when
preparing for a big show?

Jibbs: Preparing for a show I treat it just
like a natural day because at this point I’m doing shows every single
day, but before I go onstage I just blackout I don’t even hear or see
nothing and my objective is to kill everything.

24: I read that you were a 2x Golden Glove
winner. Tell me a little about that side of you?

Jibbs: My dad was a boxer so I grew up in the
gym and I use to watch the older guys do it so much when I was about 8 I know
how to box real well.

24: What’s next for Jibbs?
Jibbs: I want this year to be my year so I’m
doing a few movies. I’m also touring on a European Tour with P.Diddy and
Snoop Dogg then come back and do a huge tour but we not going to speak about
that too much trying to tour all year planning for the album to go platinum.

24: What advice would you give to an inspiring
artist your age?

Jibbs: Stay focus and stick to your craft never
let nobody steer you in another direction from what you want to do. Plus if
you’re under 18 stay in school because I realize the importance of education
when I got my deal. My contract had to go through the courts to get approved
and if you had D’s on your report card, my deal would have never went
through until I was 18.

24: Anything you want to promote?
Jibbs: My album is in stores right now. I want
to thank all my fans for buying the album and if you don’t have it go
get it “Jibbs feat.Jibbs” in stores now. If you want to get in touch
with me hit me up on myspace at WWW.MYSPACE.COM/JIBBS and yes it’s really
me I’m not on everyday but when I get a chance.
