Introduce yourself. Who are you? Where are you from? What is your background / nationality?

Hey I’m Juamllee Jimmy Orisme (Pronounced: WOM-LEE JIMMEE OR-IS-ME) (Born February 13, 1993), professionally known as “Jimmy Jay.” I am of Haitian decent and a hip hop Recording Artist & Songwriter originally born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, (Broward County).

How did you get your name?

I got my name from my actual middle name which is Jimmy but the Jay part of it was influenced by Jay-Z because when I was young and still till this day I want to be as successful as he is especially in a corporate mindset so when I use to be a promoter for events I would call myself Young Jay. I started of with Young Jay as my previous Artist name but thought it would be better to use a name that Is really apart of me and defines the hidden personality most people don’t get to really see.

What motivated you to get into the music business?

Since I was 5 I always wanted to be a star. At the age of 7 what made me want to be a part of music history & entertainment for the rest of my life were the Influences from Hosting events, rapping and singing Along with other talents performed at school and church events.

What makes you unique / stand out compared to other people?

What makes me standout is my versatility and ability to do many other skills and talents. I can get a crowds attention and can express more of who I am through my music with strategically staged performances. I’m just not your average hood baby.

Let our readers know some of the names of people you have worked with.

I haven’t gotten the chance to collaborate with many but I’ve experienced studio sessions with artists such as Nino brown, Jordan Hollywood, Black DaDa, Lajan Slim, and a few other artists. One of the main figures I’ve worked with is Anthony Dupoux Better known as Rarriant (One of South Florida’s Biggest Promoters) Teaming with Rarri and Co. Which has been one of the most eye opening experiences behind the entertainment industry exposing me to how everything is really managed behind the curtains that the world doesn’t get to see.

What are somethings you would like to achieve and why?

I would like to achieve a success and wealth that will break generational difficulties from opportunities and financial gain. To be not only a well known humanitarian but also well respected as a creative mind and person overall. I just want to move my mom into her dream home and achieve more success so she doesn’t have to ever work a 9-5 again. Fame isn’t my main concern but if that’s what comes with being financially wealthy then I’m taking the good with the bad.

What are some past achievements worth mentioning?

In 2016 I released my self-composed song “My Young ones ” Produced by Flight Beatz, which landed on hotnewhiphop.com and other blog sites as an upcoming song creating catchy and memorable hooks and earworms in the process. It made for a full package record that sound like it could find success in the Atlanta-influenced hit-making economy, ripe for Vine loops and etc.

On a personal level, how would you describe yourself in detail?

To describe myself would be like to describe someone who has many traits, characteristics. Of course very talented and skilled but more so ambitious, persistent, energetic, an introvert at most but very extroverted when comfortable or enjoying the moment. I wear my heart on my sleeve which sometimes gives people the advantage to try and walk all over me but of course that’s not happing in my book but if it does I know how to handle it. Other than that I’m very caring and honest about most. I can be quite distant but that mainly due to the fact I’m still developing my inner self completely.

How long have you been professionally working in the industry?

I’ve been into music since I was 5 years old but I officially took my music career Professional in 2013. Released my first professional record In 2016 but that was only the beginning to where I am now and I plan to continue growing in the music and entertainment industry.

Whats in the pipeline? What are you currently working on?

I’m currently working on the release of some very dope & catchy projects including the upcoming release of my first EP , developing my Music Label and the launch of my Brand called LifestyleTV Entertainment which is a platform that brings not only exposure to events but opportunities for talents and entrepreneurs in the entertainment industry. Connecting Brands, Recording Artist, Models, Producers, Directors & DJ’s through networking and placement opportunities by broadcasting videos and etc.

In this industry, what is something you learned the hard way?

No amount of planning or preparation can guarantee a positive outcome. Sure, we obviously need to plan a few things, but we shouldn’t let perfectionism get in the way of our end goals. We normally adapt as we proceed in our journey, and that’s the only way to move closer to your goals. Also, nobody is going to support you if you don’t have your brand together and ready for publishing unless you find a sponsor. Money talks volumes.

In 5 years, where do you see yourself in the music industry and why?

In 5 years I see myself making a breakthrough and finally reaching a point in the industry where I’m finally a voice for my city and the supporters behind me. One of the best artist to come out of Broward County South Florida.

Who were some music influencers you listened to while growing up? What do you remember when you think about them?

Growing up i was inspired by the likes of: Michael Jackson, Tupac , Notorious B.I.G, Hot Boys & Lil’ Wayne, Jay-Z, Young Jeezy, Trick Daddy, Lil Boosie, Rick-ross and local south florida rappers like Ice Berg & etc.

To close out for your current and future fans, what are some last words and shout outs you want to give?

This shit takes time and patience, so if you work hard to be consistent and disciplined then you can get there too! until you’ve made yourself interesting enough for others to join you, you’re not going to get the support you think you deserve because An artist is just like a brand. And like any other brand, You need to develop it before others are willing to invest their time and money into it.
