The Manager of the famed ‘Opa Locka Goon’ was released from the Indian River County Jail sometime in August. After spending 5 months in lockdown and released earlier than stated, the acclaimed Mo’ Money Jit is back home and getting back to business. Not only does he serve as Brisco’s manager, he is also the Vice President of the hottest label in Miami, the infamous Poe Boy Music Group, a company that houses industry artists such as Flo Rida, Rick Ross, Brisco, and most recently signed, Billy Blue. This time around he is taking a more extreme approach as Brisco’s debut album, ‘Street Medicine,’ is on the verge of dropping and the direction for the Opa Locka Goon is looking real prosperous.
Jit has watched Brisco grow into the artist that he is now and was present during the grooming process of making him an established versatile lyricist and talented performer. Between Jit, E-Class, Baby, and Slim, their focus on Brisco seems to be on the same path as the road ahead follows a straight and narrow path. This is an exclusive, long overdue, interview with the man behind the music and the success, Mo’ Money Jit.
24: First off let everyone know who you are if they don’t already know.
Mo Money Jit: Mo Money Jit, Poe Boy representer and Brisco’s manager
24: So let’s get into your situation, your fresh out, you just got out a couple of weeks ago, how’s everything with that; is everything cleared?
Mo Money Jit: Not yet, everything should be cleared up by November, they have me on papers right now, but I will be done with it by November 1st then we can get everything back on track. Actually everything is back on track; just making sure things are right, legal wise.
24: The last time that I spoke you, we were doing an article on Brisco and the situation was that Brisco was going to be on acclaimed ‘Tha Carter III Tour’ can you explain the situation on that, is that still happening?
Mo Money Jit: Yeah we’re still going on ‘Tha Carter III Tour’ and also the ‘BET College Tour’ as well, so we’re going to be in and out on days, we’re going forward with all of that and also finalizing some business with Cash Money on Brisco’s album, just looking forward to all of that.
24: As a matter of that, with that album, ‘Street Medicine,’ we’re all looking forward that especially in the streets and the world, when do you actually think that’s going to hit the streets or the world so everyone will know?
Mo Money Jit: Right now, the businesses is on the up and up, we’re just finishing some business with Cash Money and Universal sometime this week and if everything goes well we should be ready to give the people ‘Street Medicine’ first quarter of next year.
24: Besides the song ‘Bitch, I’m Me,’ Just Know Dat, and I’m N da Hood, Is Brisco working on another hit single?
Mo Money Jit: Right now, once business is straighten up, Brisco has tons of music about three albums worth, but I know once we finalize the business part and get those numbers right, bigger budgets will open up and then you get to say, ‘Ok I want to do a record with this person or that person,’ this just will solidify the finalizing on the album then you have the records that you choose to be on the album. So once we finalize that, budgets will open up and more money will come and he can say ‘I want to work with this, I want to work with that,’ and then we will go from there.
24: When it comes down to production and features for the tracks on the album can you let us know what direction you’re taking with the album?
Mo Money Jit: We’re keeping it street, we’re keeping it gutter, basically the album speaks for itself, ‘Street Medicine,’ so he’s keeping it streets, he’s keeping it funky, keeping it hood. He has a lot of production from a lot of different people without budgets because it’s love, he had records from Cool and Dre, he has records from J Rock, a couple of records are going to come from Timbaland, just a lot of records from a lot of different people. As far as the big name producers we don’t really focus on that, but we are doing business with them, it’s obvious that we fuck with everybody as far as features, I’m not sure who he really wants to work with, Lil Wayne is on there, but that’s like his brother, so definitely he’s going to fuck with Wayne, Birdman, Ross , Ace Hood, Khaled, Flo Rida, Triple C’s, and Billy Blue. You know family come first so he’s going to get them out the way first, other than that, he fucks with everybody.
24: With the direction that you’re trying to take Brisco, do you think you Slim and Baby have the same ideas of where you’re trying to take him?
Mo Money Jit: Well, actually I think everybody is on the same page. E-Class just had a meeting with Slim and Baby, everybody is focusing on the same thing, that’s what those meetings are about, making sure everybody is on the same page and as of right now everybody sees the same vision just know Brisco is going to be the biggest thing in the streets real, real soon.
24: When will we finally see a ‘Bitch, I’m Me’ video or a ‘Just Know Dat’ video because I know everybody is ready to see that?
Mo Money Jit: Actually the Bitch I’m me video was pushed back to another date to be later announced and it will be with W. Malcolm Jones. Then we’re going to hit the radio with the ‘Just Know Dat’ featuring Flo Rida and Lil Wayne, and then were going to do a much bigger video with that situation. The ‘Just Know Dat’ video featuring Lil Wayne and Flo Rida is still coming, so wait for that.
24: I ask a lot of artists this question, but I never ask their managers, what do you think sets Brisco aside from the artists in the game that are doing there thing today?
Mo Money Jit: I actually saw the grooming; I actually witnessed the grooming of where Brisco came from to where he is today. He actually sat back, he actually watched, recognized, and learned, caught his nitch and he knows where he’s at business wise, that’s why he has his team around that’s why he has me, E Class , G12, Ross, and Flo Rida, that’s what makes him whole, I actually witnessed the growth of Brisco from where he was to where he is today that’s what sets him aside from other artists, I haven’t seen the other artists grow, but when you witness it and you know it, you’re confident with it, and that’s just that.
24: Let’s rewind a bit, can you give us just a brief history of you and Brisco and how everything came about with Poe Boy?
Mo Money Jit: Me and Brisco’s cousin, G12, we grew up together, elementary school all the way up to high school. Brisco came and stayed with me and G12, we had our own house in high school, Brisco came and lived with us. Once he got in high school from there I always been in the music business, so from there he kind of took refuge of him wanting to rap so he always been around the music and from there it just became family and before Poe Boy, it was M.O.B. and E-Class always wanted to do a record label always wanted to do management so we said, ‘Ok, he’ll sign the artist, I’ll manage them and that’s how all of this came about and we just continued doing what we’re doingand that’s we’re we are now.
24: Explain to me Blue House and Mo’ Money Management
Mo Money Jit: Well they all me, Mo Money Jit because my company use to be Mo Money Management, but actually the house that we groomed Brisco in was a nice blue house and that use to be the spot that was like the headquarters, it’s like everybody came through the Blue House, so I buried the Mo Money and we just continued with Blue House Management that’s my management company, but I am a Vice President here at Poe Boy Music Group and that’s what I do.
24: Let’s get into some brief politics, as you are well aware, Hip-Hop is in a slow decline, what do you think Brisco can do or is doing to assist in making it incline?
Mo Money Jit: The streets keep you relevant to what’s going on, just stay in the streets and take all the negative and positive know that everybody’s not going to like, they’re going to love you, they’re going to hate you, the streets is what keeps you hot, stay true to the streets and stay true to yourself. Like I said, it’s going to be a lot of positive shit, a lot of rap beef, and a lot of bullshit, you just have to continue to work, take it and strive, and that’s what it is.
24: How can the fans go about contacting Mo Money Jit to get to know you or if they wanted to book Brisco for a show?
Mo Money Jit: Well all they would have to do is contact Poe Boy Music Group, we are in the yellow pages, we’re on the website they can hit me up at 24hourhiphop.com or they can hit me up on my email address Jit.teambrisco@gmail.com just find me I’m in the streets. Get at me whatever you want we’re looking forward to a prosperous year, 2009 is the year of Brisco all the haters, keep hating.
24: Thank you for providing this interview, do you have any last words for the current and future fans?
Mo Money Jit: All I can say is a lot of artists don’t understand the business and a lot of artists need to understand the business because they think it’s just about rapping, but you also need good representation, someone behind the scenes structuring your career and that’s what I do that’s what I fell in love with, that’s what I’m here for and not only just for Brisco, I work on behalf of Ross, I work on behalf of Flo Rida, Billy Blue, David Lynn, Lil Brianna, whatever artists’ Poe Boy has, I work on behalf of them. Like I said, I am the vice president of Poe Boy and I’m also Brisco’s Manager, so you know just hit us up because were taking all bets and shout out to Kieva.
