After much success in the industry and even reaching #1 on the Billboard 200, Paul Wall aka “The Peoples Champ” is back with his Fourth Studio Album entitled, Fast Life.  Hooking up with people like Young Joc, Gorilla Zoe, Tech N9ne, Webbie, and even Too Short, there is no doubt that this album will be a heavy hitter. His lead single “Bizzy Body” featuring Webbie and Mouse is receiving major buzz and airplay and the video recently premiered March 27, 2009 on Myspace. The Peoples Champ is definitely doing big things. With lyrics and production better than ever, Paul Wall has definitely matured and is stepping his game up with this one! We caught up with him to talk about his album, family, and even latest ventures. Check it out!

24: Paul Wall “The Peoples Champ” It’s been two years since “Get Money Stay True” you know we’ve missed you in the game. Why such the long wait to finally release a new album?

Paul Wall: I been on the grind real heavy. On the road on tour, as well as in the studio. Me and my boy T Farris been perfecting every song on the album, making sure the sound is just right. Were finally ready! May 12 its on and poppin. The Fast Life.

24: So for everyone who doesn’t know, tell them a little about the new album “Fast Life” in stores May 12th?

Paul Wall: Well I’ve got Travis Barker on a lot of the production, as well as Play N Skillz, and some new up and coming producers Beanz n Cornread. On the collaborations side we got Too Short, Tech N9NE, Yung Joc, Gorilla Zoe, also Trae, Zro, and Lil Keke.

24: What is going to set this album apart from the previous albums, especially your international debut “The Peoples Champ” which reached #1 on the Billboard 200?

Paul Wall: I’ve grown a lot as a man and you can hear that in the music. I’ve really stepped it up a lot. The fans are really gonna be happy. I’m real excited about releasing it. I’ve gone a little bit more in depth with my personal life on there also. You can hear that on Daddy Wasn’t Home, and also on Take A Look.

24: It’s been stated that you felt that “Fast Life” would be both stronger lyrically and in the production sense. Tell the readers a little more about your journey and growth as both a rapper and a man?

Paul Wall: I’ve been making music full time now for 11 years. So when I started off I was literally still a child, barely a teenager trying to pay bills. Now I’m married with 2 kids and a lot more family that depends on me. So I’m an adult now taking care of business. I treat my music like it’s a real job. I show up on time and treat people with respect. This Is my livelihood.

24: The lead single “Bizzy Body” featuring Webbie and Mouse is getting some heavy rotation right now. I recently saw the video, it was dope. What made you pick this single as the first one as opposed to any others?

Paul Wall: Aw it was a no brainer. I mean we got Mouse on the production. His tracks have so much energy. And Webbie just killed it. It’s a club banger 4sho.

24: So what exactly is your definition of a “Bizzy Body?”

Paul Wall: It’s something Mouse came up with. But to me it’s a freaky lady that handles her bidness. Like a independent lady in the streets and freak in the sheets. But she got to be a freak. That’s a good thing, definitely
not a bad thing.

24: You have a lot of great collaborations on this album including Z-Ro, Young Joc, Gorilla Zoe, Pitbull, Too Short, and Tech N9ne. How was it working with so many different types of artists?

Paul Wall: These are some of the most talented artists in he game so its been an honor to work with them. A lot of times they already have an idea of what to do, I try to vibe off of them.

24: I see that your track “I Need Mo” features Colby O’Donis? Well that’s a different look for you. How did that collaboration come to be?

Paul Wall: Actually its featuring a different singer named Kobe. Haha somehow it got misunderstood a while back and got false promoted. However I did record on a track for Colby Odonis’s album that’s in stores now, its called She Wanna Go. That was one of my favorite all time collaborations I’ve ever done. He’s really talented.

24: Are there any other artists that you would’ve liked to have worked with on this album?

Paul Wall: There’s definitely a long list of people that I’d love to have the opportunity to work with. But most of the top elite artists are so busy that its hard to get together in the studio. There’s a lot of talent out there though.

24: The production on this album was crazy; tell us about some of the producers who blazed this album?

Paul Wall: Travis Barker is definitely my favorite. He’s mostly known as being a badass drummer but in my opinion he is one of the coldest producers in hip hop. His style is so original and fresh. His work ethics are incredible. He’s definitely a grinder. Any time we go into the studio we come out with 3 or 4 songs. I think he has a different perspective on music since he has a different background. He really takes it serious. His creativity is phenomenal.

24: Other than promoting “Fast Life”, what other projects do you have going on right now?

Paul Wall: We have our brand new clothing line called Expensive Taste. Our website is www.igotexpensivetaste.com Its mostly street wear, such as t shits and goodies, as well as hats. Also I still have the jewelry going full blast at www.grillsbypaulwall.com

24: With all the latest trouble that certain artists have been involved in, what keeps Paul Wall out of all the drama and out of the media’s attention?

Paul Wall: I just do me. I’m the peoples champ; I’m a hard working family man that’s as laid back as I can be. I’ve had problems in the past, but my main focus is to put out good quality music and support my family. I’m not worried about anything anybody else has going on. Every now and then I’ll get somebody that has it out for me. But my mind is on paper. I tend to brush off the haters.

24: I feel you. Well we all know you’re a husband and a father; how is life outside of the music, and do you think that marriage and fatherhood has been a positive outlet for your music?

Paul Wall: It’s been great. My family is behind me 100%. Thy motivate me to wanna do better and grind harder. It’s great to know I have people in my corner who love me for who I am.

24: I hear you have a clothing line with Travis Barker “Expensive Taste,” tell the readers a little more about that an how it came to be?

Paul Wall: We started out as a group, and our first shirts were just our logo. But the shirts sold out so quick we figured weight as well make it a full clothing line. Our website is www.igotexpensivetaste.com. Its been doing great for us.

24: Well I just want to say that you are definitely doing your thing right now, and I look forward to this album’s release? Is there anything you would like to promote right now?

Paul Wall: Thank you for the love and support. I’m really looking forward to my new release THE FAST LIFE on May 12. Check out my websites and hit me on twitter/paulwallbaby.
