24: For the readers that may have been sleeping under a rock please introduce yourself to and let them know where your representing?
Smoke DZA: Smoke DZA, live from Harlem,NY aka George Kush and check me out George Kush Da Button if you will.
24: What would you say your bringing to the table with your music and how would you describe your style?
Smoke DZA: I would say I’m bringing a fresh breath of air to the music world as well as being versatile and bringing a new insight from a younger guys vision. I would describe my style as smooth and real hustle like.
24: Who were some of your musical influences growing up and who are some of your musical influences now?
Smoke DZA: Hov, Biggie, Big L, Ma$e and artist such as those.
24: as far as your peers right now in the game who would you say inspires you to take your music to another level right now?
Smoke DZA: Of course my homie Chis he motivates me. Nippsey Hussle definitely motivates me and I listened to “Kush & Orange Juice“(by Wiz Khalifa)and that motivated me. Pilot Talk(by Curren$y)motivated me, shit like that.
24: You just dropped your street album “George Kush Da Button” and I wanted to know was the process for you going into making this project?
Smoke DZA: In the beginning I wasn’t even working towards dropping “George Kush Da Button” or at least “George Kush Da Button” wasn’t going to be want you guys heard. I was working with Ski(Ski Beats)over at DD172(Dame Dash Record Label), Shout to Dame and we was just working on a project. We didn’t know what it was going to be or become we were just in the studio making records at the time. A few records into the project a record by the name of “Sour Hour” leaked out. We didn’t know how it leaked but the shit leaked out but by the response the record got we figured fuck it let’s give them something else since they love it and looking for it. Someone went and found it without our permission so obviously someone wanted to hear it so we put out “Sounds Of The Indo” next. I kept working and soon my team felt like we put out a project and that’s how “George Kush Da Button” came about.
24: What did you want the listeners to feel when they downloaded and zoned out to the album?
Smoke DZA: I wanted them to feel the vibe that I was in. I wanted them to feel what I was going through in my every day life but at the same time I didn’t want to go against the formula because you know I do the bud shit. So I wanted to give them that but sneak in other shit just to let them know I can do pother shit as well. A lot of people just pigeon hold me to being a weeding talking rapper and not able to talk about other things.
24: You have worked with some hot producers such as Ski Beatz, Big K.R.I.T., G14, Kenny Beats, and Steve-O on your latest project so I wanted to know who would you like to work with in the near future ?
Smoke DZA: Well, Sean C and LV(Producers of Roc Boys for Jay-Z) of course. I actually have been working with Sean C lately as well as Chase N Cashe of Surf Club, that’s my family. I got up with Pete Rock the other day and he’s cooking something up so you guys will hear a lot of new stuff coming from me soon.
24: Outside of the Street Album George Kush Da Button what are some other projects your currently working on that the readers should be on the look out for soon?
Smoke DZA: Outside of that the readers can catch me on Tour at the High Times Tour with myself Curren$y & Big K.R.I.T. along with Mac Miller and a few others. An you can catch THC(The Hustler’s Catalog)which will be the name of my album dropping next year. Before my album drops it will probably be a project in between so just stay tune because I never stop working!
24: At a time when the music industry seems to be at an Up & Down state do you have any plans of signing to a Major Label or just keep building up your buzz at this moment?
Smoke DZA: I’m always building my brand so right now that’s really not the ace with me. Cinematic Music Group is my home, that’s my family. Jonny is like my big brother, but of course if the Majors come calling and the deal is right and I’m not selling myself then you never know. But for right now I’m building my buzz and getting shit together and taking all of this independent money(lol).
24: What’s the best way for everyone to check out your music and stay up to date with everything your doing?
Smoke DZA: They can hit me on Twitter page at www.twitter.com/SmokeDZA or my website www.smokedza.com.
24: Is there anything you want to say to the readers before we go?
Smoke DZA: Download “George Kush Da Button” it’s one of my best pieces of work thus far. Whether you smoke weed or you don’t I think you will love it and enjoy it! Other then that catch me on tour. High Times, Smokers Club.
