This is the exclusive interview with the R&B superstar, Trey Songz:
24: By all means necessary, the people’s voice. We are here in South Florida at Café Iguana’s with Trey Songz. Trey, how are you doing?
Trey Songz: What’s happening, man? You good?
24: Yes sir. So what brings you out here to South Florida?
Trey Songz: Promoting this album man. I’ve come out here to talk to you and this room full of folks and let them know what’s going on with me. We’ve been doing a lot of radio as well today. I’ve been on this promotion for about a month and some change now, so its basically about getting the word out, letting people know what I’m about, and letting people know what the album’s about.
24: Your single ‘I Need a Girl’ is a great song. How did you feel when you were writing it?
Trey Songz: Well, actually, ‘I Need a Girl,’ shout outs to Johnta Austin and Stargate who helped me put that together, it’s doing very well. We have a couple of other records as well, ‘LOL, Smiley Face,’ ‘I Need A Girl,’ of course, Drake with ‘Successful’ and we had another record entitled ‘Invented Sex.’ So those four records right now are all in the top 100 which I am very proud of.
24: Now about the mixtapes. I was thinking that it was about time that someone in the R&B game did it, and Trey Songz did it. How does it feel for you to release those mixtapes?
Trey Songz: Well, I’ve actually been dropping mixtapes since the beginning of my career, so it’s nothing new to me. But its always been a great marketing tool, its always been a great way to get my music out, and always been a great way to show my fans how much I love what I do and how far I will go to show that.
24: So what should we be expecting from you in South Florida for the future? More love?
Trey Songz: Oh yes, most definitely. All love. The drop of ‘Ready’ did really well, the Mario tour with me and Day 26. You should expect me to shoot a movie with Will Smith’s production company Overbrook in January, I’m very excited.
24: We appreciate this exclusive from Trey Songz, how we go about contacting you?
Trey Songz: If you want you can contact me at TreySongz.com or at (804) 335-0051, appreciate the love always.
