Why Alicia Really Left Her Manager?

The announcement came late last week that Alicia Keys was no longer going to be represented by her  longtime manager Jeff Robinson, and from now on would be handling her own business affairs. The two had worked together since the beginning of Alicia’s career and had only made great music and money together so the announcement left many wondering…why?

“This decision will allow Alicia more control over all aspects of her career from singing and songwriting, to leading many business ventures and social causes,” read a statement, adding that the decision was “mutually agreed upon and amicable.”

However most in the biz are saying that the decision was anything but amicable and Alicia by all accounts fired Robinson without him really knowing what was coming. I mean think about it, would you give up 20% of Alicia Keys yearly income ‘amicably’? There are a couple theories as to why Alicia made this decision but the most prominent one going around is that it was actually Swizz Beatz who told Alicia she was better off on her own and should dump Jeff. Another one is that Robinson first advised Alicia not to have her kid with Swizz Beatz and this created a huge rift between the two which ended up in Alicia making this decision.

Both of these ideas do make sense, as soon as Swizzy comes into the picture, Jeff is out. And it’s also not hard to believe that a manager wouldn’t want his world famous starlet’s career to be slowed down by pregnancy for the better part of a year and then the life of motherhood. I know either way this Robinson guy must be pretty heated. Hope you was saving up pimp pimp!

Rihanna’s People Make It Hard On Eminem?

Video director Joseph Khan tweeted yesterday that the video for Eminem’s track with Rihanna “Love The Way You Lie” was going to be getting a visual.

“Video is awarded. Starts shooting Tuesday. Eminem  & Rihanna. Off we go!,” Kahn wrote publicly via his Twitter page over the weekend. (Joseph Kahn’s Twitter)

Word is though this video was supposed to have been happened already, but Rihanna’s handlers were making it a very slow process. What I’m hearing is that both Def Jam and Rihanna’s personal management was wary about letting her be in a video with Eminem that deals with spousal abuse. Rihanna is still very much known for that whole Chris Brown thing and those close to her didn’t even want her to be on the song in the first place, much less the video. But a hit is a hit, and eventually they gave in and greenlighted the video.

I wonder what this video is gonna be like? Do you think Em and Rihanna are gonna be coupled up or something? Would that be weird?
