24: Introduce yourself to the readers and let them know where your from and what was it that made you want to start a Blog?
Ashley Outrageous: I was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale,FL representing Broward County. I started my blog because I was always talking about music to people, whether it was if they about heard such and such new album/new record or music video. So my friend Omie blogged everyday, literally. Posting things he liked from music, clothes to random things. I thought about it and said to myself why don’t I start one? So he helped me set up a blogger account and I started. At first I didn’t take it to seriously until I started getting a lot of good feedback and more ideas as too how I could expand it. So after a couple artists started sending me tracks to drop exclusively on my site, I shut it down for a month. Converting to word press and putting together a mixture called “The Playlist: Volume One“. Since then it’s been taking off and I have been getting nothing but awesome feedback!
24: With so many people having Blogs now how do you make sure that you separate your Blog from the others?
Ashley Outrageous: Exclusive content is key. I do my “Outrageous Xclusive” interview series which has had upcoming artists such as Freddie Gibbs, Donnis, Dom Kennedy, Curt@!n$, Laws, Stalley, X.O., The Illz and Shawn Chrystopher. I also have my mixtape series “The Playlist” which only one volume is out now but Volume 2 is in the works. It’s going to be insane! I also like to put my thoughts into each posts such as my views about what I think about a new video or song, etc.
24: When did you start Iamashleyoutrageous.com?
Ashley Outrageous: It’s actual been up since October 2008, but I didn’t really take it seriously until around October 2009 though.
24: Outside of your Blog is their any other Blogs that you love to check out?
Ashley Outrageous: Yup, it’s like when you become a so called “Blogger”(Which is a term I really hate)you develop relationships with other bloggers. Anytime I need an update on my West Coast family I go to Eazeest.com which is ran by my homie Eazee. If I want to see what’s good in Chicago I go over to illroots.com, which is run by Mike Waxx and Mike Carson or YnotmyDream.net(shout-out to Anthony). I also enjoy thesmokingsection.net(shouts-out to TC). An I can’t forget Miss Heather over at herfection.com or Shake & Meka over at 2dopeboyz.com, DJBooth.net(where the homie DJ Z hosts the latest & hottest mixtures). OnSmash all day! Last but not least Necole Bitchie for my daily gossip. There’s probably some others that I just can’t think of right now(lol).
24: You also put together a great show with the “Cool Bowl” and I wanted to know are you thinking about making that be something that you start to do on a constant basis because the turn out was great. You also had a great selection of New Artist & up and coming artist that all brought something different to the stage. I wasn’t able to come to the show but I saw the video footage and I loved it.
Ashley Outrageous: Thanks, it was put together in one week. I don’t know how I did it but it was done! Thanks to Traffic Boutique, Last Rights, LAX Paper Boys and everyone who helped out. Throwing events is something I do on a consistent basis. That’s a whole other project I have cooking up with my partner Samantha. What we want to do is bring those artists who are least expected to come to Miami whether it’s because they don’t have a smash single on the radio or promoters are just not booking them etc. Personally, the radio is “Wack” 95% of the time(lol). We will be debuting our company some time this year but I can’t let tell you everything now so stay tuned. Just know that every event will be memorable & bonkers!
24: You always seem to have a great ear for that next new artist so as we are approaching the end of summer soon what artist should the readers be on the look out for?
Ashley Outrageous: Well, hands down right now I’ll say J. Cole. I feel like some people are still sleeping on him so wake the hell up! I’ve put so many people onto him down here in Florida so why not keep adding more(lol). Also look out for artist such as Freddie Gibbs, Pac Div, Dom Kennedy, STS of the Money Making Jam Boys, Chip Tha Ripper, Phil Ade, Laws, Sin, TiRon, Ayomari, Phresh James, Chorde, Wiz Khalifa, Curren$y, Jasmine Solano, Big K.R.I.T, Kendrick Lamar, U-N-I, Quest, Platini, Bishop, Mercy, Ghostwridah, Hollyweerd, H.O.P.E., Stalley, Ta’East, Stevie Crooks to Yelawolf and Pill. I could keep going on and on(lol). I listen to listen to everything. I’m not even playing(smiling).
24: Tell the readers what’s next for you and what should they be looking out for from you and IamAshleyOutrageous.com for the rest of 2010 going into 2011?
Ashley Outrageous: More exclusive interviews as well as coverage of the hottest events not to mention more mixtapes! More giveaways on the site, more everything(lol). I got some things cooking up that I cant speak on as yet but I promise you they will be pretty sweet(smiling).I also want to start a YO! MTV Raps style type of show on Youtube so maybe I’ll do that(throws on the thinking cap).
24: Tell the readers what’s next for you and what’s the best way to stay in tuned with everything your doing?
Ashley Outrageous: Just log on to www.iamashleyoutrageous.com and follow me on Twitter at www.twitter.com/AOutrageous(or @AOutrageous).
24: Any final words for the readers?
Ashley Outrageous: In a few months big things are about to happen. It’s not a game anymore and a new female face for upcoming/underground Hip-Hop is here. Music is something I love so to dedicate my time to it, that’s not a problem, it’s life my life.
