24: How long have you had a passion for photography and when did you start VXN Studios?
VXN Studios: I’d say my passion began when I decided to stop modeling which was in November of 2009. That’s when VXN was born. I’ve always been pretty creative and artistic. I started by designing my own modeling websites and editing my pictures from photo shoots for my portfolio. I guess photography was just a natural next step for me.
24: 2010 was a very big year for you and your company so tell me how does it feel to be consider by many as one of the best in the industry right now?
VXN Studios: To be considered one of the best is extremely flattering(smiling). I really consider myself a beginner; I haven’t even been shooting for even two years as yet. There’s a lot I still have to learn but I’m thankful my work has been so well received.
24: What would you say is it about your photography that separates you from other photographers?
VXN Studios: That’s a hard question to answer. I guess I’d have to say my attention to detail. When I’m shooting, I try to make sure my lighting is as good as it can possibly be. I don’t believe in shooting to Photoshop later which is what I have heard many photographers claim they do. Once the image is ready for editing, I try to handle it like I would my own. My work is a reflection of me. People have told me my work is very “Clean” which is kind of a vague statement. I take it to mean that, all though at times the lighting is simple, the subject of the image is never lost to distractions of sloppy “Post-Work”. I hope that makes sense to everyone.
24: As a female photographer were they a lot of people who doubted what you were capable of doing since the modeling world is highly dominated by male photographers?
VXN Studios: When I made the cross from modeling to photography, I didn’t tell anyone who I was. The reality show I was on(Real Chance of Love 2)had just finished airing and I had enough attention to last me two lifetimes(lol). Most times other models didn’t even find out who I was until the day they came out to shoot with me. One and a half years later, there are still people who assume I am a man or a group of men. They are shocked when they find out I’m female, as though being a good photographer isn’t possible being a woman? Maybe they’re surprised because what I’m known for at the moment is Glamour Photography.
24: So far in your very bright career what would you say has been your biggest accomplishment so far?
VXN Studios: I believe my biggest accomplishment, besides my regularly shooting for BlackMen Magazine, was shooting Rick Ross for the cover of Urban Ink. Had you told me a year ago I would have to shoot the cover for anything, I would’ve called you a liar(lol).
24: If you had to choose one model that you have not yet worked with as yet to do a Photo Shoot with who would you choose and why?
VXN Studios: Oh, that’s a tough one! In the urban arena, there are many beautiful ladies it’s so hard to pick just one! So if I had too I’ll go ahead and say Coco. I would choose Coco because, One: there’s no opportunity at this moment to shoot with her. Two: She shows personality in all of her images. When you look at her images you see sexiness, fun, and best of all “Flirtation”. In my opinion, urban Glamour should be flirty and seductive. We should look at your images and wonder what you’re thinking at that moment. Or just for a moment, feel like there’s a connection. Although beautiful, few models give that “Fire” in there images. It’s not bad, but it can get boring to look at once we’ve seen 300 pictures of you.
24: I definitely agree with you 100%.
24: Which Photo Shoots that you have done so far would be in your Top 5 so far that you had fun doing or most memorable?
VXN Studios: Most of my shoots have been for BlackMen Magazine and because all the ladies I’ve shot were a lot of fun to work with, there’s no one shoot that comes to mind at the moment. But two shoots that stand out would have to be my shoot with Lil Twist from Young Money and Rick Ross for Urban Ink. Those were the only two Photo Shoots that I did where I was actually very nervous about!
24: What should everyone be looking forward to from VXN Studios for the rest of 2011?
VXN
Studios: This year I hope to shoot a few more celebrities and submit
some work to International Men’s Magazines. Since I haven’t been around
long, I still need to continue to build my brand. To do so, I will be
doing a Photo Shoot Tour called “Glam & Style“. There are so many
more things I want to do in general with my photography career but I
tend to set smaller goals and work on achieving them. Once I achieve
those, I believe they will help me achieve my bigger goals in the long
run.
24: What’s the best way for someone to get in contact with you for booking a photo shoot or just to keep up to date with everything your doing?
VXN Studios: For more info and to book a Photo Shoot, please visit www.vxnstudios.com or email vxnstudios@gmail.com. I’m on Twitter daily @vxnstudios as well.
