After his first single hit the net this week, [“My Last” featuring Chris Brown], it seems the G.O.O.D. Music/ Def Jam MC is FINALLY getting a chance to show his chops. Sean’s highly anticipated debut LP, Finally Famous: The Album is due March 29th, alongside Wiz Khalifa’s Rolling Papers and Snoop Dogg’s Doggumentary.
If you’ve listened to the Finally Famous mixtape series at all, then you’ll know what to expect from the LP. Sean’s arrogantly lavish yet witty punchlines are his signature and coupled with production from the boss, Kanye West, No I.D. and plenty others, I’m sure the project will be well put together.
“I remember in the eighth grade I told myself, man I’m going to be
signed to Def Jam,” explains Sean. “I always put it out into the
universe and I think it was written for me. I was meant to inspire
people, I was meant to make music. There’s been so many nights where
instead of going out I’ve had to work and was depressed so I feel like I deserve this. This is what I was meant to do.” [quote via Rap-Up.com].
THE HONEST TRUTH: While I am BEYOND THRILLED about the release of this album, [I AM A HUGE SEAN FAN], I can’t help but be apprehensive about such an early release date for him. The single, “My Last” isn’t really being promoted and personally, I don’t think putting him up against Wiz Khalifa and Snoop is a good decision. All I’m saying is, if they want this album to move units, they better get the engine rolling over at G.O.O.D. and Def Jam. Like, NOW.
