It wasn’t too long ago that the rap game was dominated by the north with its
metaphoric flavor which was led by the king of New York, none other than Jay-Z.
Now the tables have turned and the south is now "running the rap game like
a track meet." The year’s of hard work and dedication that our southern
rap artist have put in wasn’t in vein now that the south has gained its space
and well deserved respect in the rap game.

Atlanta’s super group Outkast changed the game forever. When
the labels were scared of change, they put out music with hard bass and space
like sounds . They (Outkast) opened the doors for people to put out snap music
and lead the way for Miami’s gangster decorum and southern rappers the ability
to keep it "hood" to make it to the airwaves. The south has managed
to make it to the top and be respected for its talent. From Luke, Uncle
Al, J.T. Money, U.G.K. and Too Short who set the foundation
for southern rappers as well as the present day rappers like Lil Wayne,
T.I., Young Jeezy, Rick Ross, Brisco, Trick Daddy and many more who
have taken the rap game back and plan on keeping it. The south was always ignored
because we were thought to be country individuals with no lyrical ability, but
the doubters were quickly proved wrong when the best of the south had a chance
to speak.

The south was brought back by Lil Wayne’s metaphoric ability, T.I.’s royal
flow and Rick Ross’s hustling delivery. Not saying that no other artist contributed
to the rebirth of the south but these three artist took the south and put it
on their heads as a crown. The south is now on top and we leave it up to these
artist to keep it there because we know that they will not fail us and they
will keep the south on top and their music will leave a mark forever. They will
never be forgotten because a song can be forgotten easily but classics can never
be, like the Ghetto Boyz "My Mind Playing Tricks"
that showed the south could tell a story and make you feel like you were there
witnessing it for yourself. The impact of that song was amazing , it did a lot
for the game. The thing that really gets me is that no one wanted anything to
do with the south and now we have the whole world biting our beats, bass, and
style, from the walk we walk to how we dress. WE HERE NOW, AND TO TELL YOU THE
TRUTH WE’RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE .
