Word is brewing about a possible tour headlined by Lil Wayne also featuring such acts as Soulja Boy Tell’em, Young Jeezy, and Drake. As reported by MTV news recently, a rep for Soulja Boy confirmed such news and a rep for Wayne followed by saying that some collaboration of the four mentioned artists will most likely be combined to form a much anticipated tour that the rap game has been dying for.
In May Drake linked up with MuchMusic.com and spoke freely about the tour. One key note is that, at the time, the tour was supposed to include living legend Jay-Z, but since then his name seems to have gone under the radar. In his own words, this is what Drake told MuchMusic.com.
“God willing, if everything goes according to plan and everybody’s schedule is in place, then I will be on tour with some amazing people. One of them being Jay-Z, one of them being Lil Wayne, one of them being Young Jeezy and one of them being me.”
While swapping Soulja Boy for Jay-Z will surely raise a few eyebrows and cause others to turn away, there’s no denying the young artists’ ability to connect with the youthful generation. His prescense could still turn out to be a big plus despite the wide ranging views and emotions that people direct towards him. Jay-Z has apparently moved on to a summer tour that is scheduled to kick of this coming July 3rd in Las Vegas with Ciara opening.
Currently all four artist have a lot on the table and if they can all unite for the tour it should be a big occasion. Drake has been working with Rihanna on her next album as well as his debut. Soulja Boy and Jeezy have also both been in the studio recording and Wayne himself is said to be done with his Rebirth album, as well as having finished up the ‘I Am Music Tour’ that also featured T-Pain, Gorilla Zoe, Gym Class Heroes, and Keyshia Cole, among others.
Wanting to get a better feel for what fans across the land are saying about the suggested tour, 24 Hour Hip Hop visited some choice music forums online to get a sense for what the people have to say. In their owns words, this is what everyone is saying about Wayne, Soulja Boy, Jeezy, and Drake hooking up…
(BeerGangsta @ XXLMag.com)…
“Save your money for the club. There no way I will spend my money on no dam Wayne, Soulja Boy. You will be better off hanging out that night. Get the Heffers when they come out the concert.”
(YackTownzFinest @ IHipHop.com)…
“Good lineup minus Soulja Boy he doesn’t have the same fan base as Jeezy, Wayne or Drake”
(Relapse @ MTV.com)…
“I mean compare them man. I hate how people are talking and hating cause they don’t like Eminem’s voice for relapse but they don’t complain about Lil’ Wayne’s little girls-crying voice know what I’m saying sorry but I just don’t feel Wayne!”
(Jordan @ MuchMusic.com)…
“I’m definitely going to this concert…I’m keeping n eye of it”
(Bill B @ HypeBeast.com)…
“Drake would be the only reason to go, Young Jeezy sucks tremendously. And I would never pay to see Lil Wayne live in concert. I’ll pass.”
(Chi-Town @ XXLMag.com)…
“Same shit I’m sayin..I can’t knock the boy for getting his hustle on but him alongside Wayne and Jeezy and Drake makes him seem outta place.”
(CityStarz @ IHipHop.com)…
“Good shit, hope they come to my City.”
(FrenchQuarter504 @ MTV.com)…
“Lil’ Wayne just can’t stop moving. Damn, even if you don’t like his rapping you gotta respect the
work ethic. Isn’t this tour overseas though?”
(UndressingHER @ MuchMusic.com)…
“Sounds like where I need to be. Where the rappers go, the women will follow.”
(KoeDog @ HypeBeast.com)…
“Drake is dope. Wayne is dope. Jeezy is dope. I’ll buy a ticket.”
(Clark @ XXLMag.com)…
“If this is anything like Monster Jam, I wouldn’t officially count Wayne as a performer until I actually see his ass on stage.”
(Precinct Phantom @ IHipHop.com)…
“Jeezy and Drake will be heavy.”
(DJ BattleCry @ MTV.com)…
“Why would they put Soulja Boy in a lineup like that with real emcees, people who are there for Wayne, Jeezy and drake are just gonna be bored and annoyed, hardcore Jeezy listeners don’t listen to Soulja boy…period”
(Monica @ MuchMusic.com)…
“Drake is tha truth! He’s like a male version of Lauryn Hill (a lil’). Some songs are a flop, but overall I think that because he’s so different from what you are used to, he’s getting mixed reviews. I have been listening to his CD ‘So Far Gone’ for 4 days straight and counting…As far as the tour… I can’t think of any one else besides the people already on there that I would rather see. If they add T-Pain…it won’t be worth anything.”
(Geico Lizard @ XXLMag.com)…
“Soulja boy is carrying their luggage and tearing tickets at the gate.”
(WhozDat02 @ MTV.com)…
“I was never excited to see Lil Wayne perform live but if dude would have got a chance to do a tour wit Jay I would’ve been there. Rap could’ve used a tour of that caliber right now. We need another Hard Knock Life tour. Just straight hip hop. No auto-tune, no R&B rap. Just straight real emcees putting it down.”
