Is it just me or are our
standards for entertainment lowering each year.
How many reality shows will we continue to sit through?  How many 15 minutes of fame stars are we
going to have to endure?  It seems like
any and everybody has a reality show whether it’s interesting or not.  Now don’t get me, wrong there are some shows
that I enjoy watching like Run’s House, Keyshia Cole’s ‘The Way It Is,’ Making
the Band, Flavor of Love, I Love New York, Real World Challenges
, and maybe a
few others.  I think the Real World was
one of the first reality shows to start the domino effect of the reality show
era.

The first season was a classic,
and MTV will never be able to capture that type of entertainment and realness
again.  They came close to it a few seasons
after the first one, but as the years go on the chance of that happening
lessens more and more every season.
Without even watching the show you already know what’s going to happen
throughout the season.  A couple
roommates will have sex, others will end up fighting, and most if not all will
get stupid drunk.  You throw in maybe one
or two African Americans, a gay man, lesbian or possibly both.  You add a drama king or queen or someone who
we might think lacks simple common sense and there you have ‘The Real World.’

In the year 2008 there are so many so called
reality shows you can hardly count, and even more unwanted reality stars.  Who decides which of these nobodies deserve
there own show.  Who the f#*k is Tila
Tequila
and why do I care that she’s looking for love?  Is it because she has the most friends on
Myspace other than Tom, or is it because of that wack ass song ‘I Don’t Want
Your Man?’  I will admit the song is very
catchy and somewhat entertaining, but how many times do you think you’ll be able
to listen to it.  She’s not the only one
that I feel doesn’t deserve a show. Next up Kim Kardashian.  This chick became a star because she jumped
off with Ray-J.  What talents does this
chick have? Can she sing, dance, or act?
Can anyone tell me what she does except for hooking up with black men
and ending up on the internet?  Yet this
woman has a show and is one of the most searched persons on google right
now.

Snoop Dogg is another one.  Snoop is a legend one of the best hip hop
artist in the game, and he’s not play pimping, the ‘Doggfather’ is a pimp for
real.  Snoop has also had the acting bug,
and has starred in a few well known flicks, but his reality show sucks.  It’s not like Run’s House, of course some of
the things that go on there are probably staged too, however they at least make
it look like it’s not staged.  Snoop
looks in the camera; he’s running from a blind acupuncturist, the honorary son
is getting a Porsche towed for five-hundred dollars and able to get it back
with some slippers and something else.
Regardless I think Snoop should have stuck to the rapping and acting and
left the reality game to Puff, Flavor Flav and Rev Run.  I’m just going to give you a list of people
who’ve had there own shows who I also feel didn’t deserve them.

1)
The King of R&B-Bobby “Crooked Mouth” Brown

2)
Danny “Can’t stop getting High” Bonaduce

3)
Tom ” Can’t Get High Enough” Sizemore

4)
Nicole “Anorexic” Richie  and Paris “Undercover Racist” Hilton

5)
Dog “Racist A#*” Bounty Hunter

6)
Kim “The Jump Off” Kardashian

7)
And the list goes on

Each channel has their own
Reality shows.  MTV, VH-1, E, A&E,
BRAVO, ABC, NBC, CBS, etc, they all have entered the reality arena.   The topics range from substance abuse to the
fabulous life to who really cares.  How
long is the Reality Revolution going to last?
When do we decide that enough is enough?
To me it feels like the entertainment industry is just giving us any and
everything, and it seems like we’re just taking whatever they give us and
saying this is all we have.  The quality
of music, movies, and television to me are at an all time low.  There is no originality or thought put into
what is suppose to be art, and I am wondering why not.   When will some body have a break through and
create something worth while?  Once again
these are just my thoughts.
