I was in a big debate the other day with my sister’s husband arguing about who the best rapper alive is… it all started off like this:
We were sitting in the car driving down London’s streets on our way home  listening to Jeezy’s – ‘My President’ pumped up on the highest volume just to remind ourselves of Obama’s victory. Right after the song finishes a Jay-Z song comes up, and out of nowhere I’m like ‘Hey Eli (my sister’s husband) what do you think about Jay?’ and he goes: I like him but my nigga is Jeezy, so I’m like ok fair enough…  

I continue… ‘so who do you think is the best rapper alive’?, he turns down the volume looks back at me with this funny expression on his face and with a sarcastic tone on his voice he tells me: JAY-Z! The way he said it and his body language was telling me come on stupid bitch you should know better. I wanted to agree with him for a minute there but because of the way he reacted I was like ‘ohh’ ok let me aggravate this nigga, so I was like: ‘I absolutely disagree’… Note: I just wanted to heat him up;)… and he was like ‘WHAT!? – so who is the best rapper alive then?  

I was thinking to myself, ok if he wants a debate then I’m going to give him one, so I ignored his question and continued: ‘before I answer your question I just want to know, what makes you say so confidently that Jay is the best rapper alive, is it something that you truly believe in or are you just following other people’s opinions? and he answered with a cocky attitude, ‘because he just is’ with a little laugh…

So I’m like: but what makes you say he is though, give me clear facts and he answers: ‘because he is the most lyrical talent of all times…’

I’m like ok he is a good lyricist but NAS is also a good lyricist you even told me so once remember? So having that said, what makes Jay-Z the BEST rapper alive since you said that NAS also is a good lyricist that means they are on the same level when it comes to lyrical talent right?  
So he gets frustrated and I was just chillin’ and enjoying the whole situation because I know he always wants to be right, I’ve heard him and my sister debating about American football and stuff before…

So he goes: Okay, so if it’s not Jay tell me, tell me who is then? and I say so what happened to legends like 2 Pac and B.I.G? and he said with a loud voice:

‘ARE THEY ALIVE?!!’ and I’m like no but their legacy moves on and their music is still alive… then he is like come on now don’t be silly, you don’t even know what you are talking about with that cocky attitude again… and I’m like ok if you want someone who is breathing then I think Lil’Wayne is the best rapper alive!

and he is like no he’s not and I’m like yes he is according to me, everything about him is special when it comes to lyrics, star-quality and style he got the whole package…

so we continued our debate and it ended up with a long silent moment in the car and my sister was quiet looking at us thinking WTF? She has never seen me and her husband even say a word to each other before and here we are sitting having the biggest debate ever. Anyway I ended up saying: ‘look there is no book saying that this person or that person is the best rapper alive, it all comes down to you at the end, I mean if you think ‘Coolio’ is the best rapper alive then he is… LOL
