24: Introduce yourself to everyone that doesn’t already know who you are.

10Yards: We are 10Yards from Toronto, raised and born. We are a rap group trying to go world wide with the array of talent that we possess.

24: Before we get into your music, can you describe your history about how you got into and what inspired you.

10Yards: Growing up in a home where things weren’t always provided for us, we grew up with a sense that anything we wanted we had to want it bad enough to strive for it, so in a nutshell growing up around struggle naturally we didn’t want to struggle anymore so we strive for our goals to escape the struggle and live a life that we are proud of and that we deserve.

24: What was the Hip-Hop scene like for you growing up where you’re from?

10Yards: Back then it was more sensible rap, ’feel-good’ type of music, things that the rappers as well as their projected audience could relate to. Rappers back then had a sense of what it feels like to go through certain things and weren’t afraid to rap or sing about it, they had an understanding of what it was to be human. Compared to the Hip-Hop scene now I would say rap back then was real.

24: What makes you Unique as a artist and different from other rappers out now?

10Yards: We relate to everything that we rap about, we don’t rap about things that we know about, we don’t pretend to be about or know a certain type of lifestyle.

24: Tell us about what you are working on.

10Yards: We are currently working on our mixtape: ‘GOTTA HAVE IT.’ Soon to be released.

24: What producers have you worked with and who would you like to work with in the future?

10YardsMid

10Yards: We’ve worked with producers such as Boi 1da, Mega Man and other local producers that have a similar sound as we do, we try to not ony bring up ourselves but those around us who’ve helped us as well. We would like to work with Dr. Dre, Young Chop, Eminem, DJ Scream, T-Minus and any other producer that would be wiling to work with 10Yards.

24: Are you happy with the feedback you have been getting from people on material you have released?

10Yards: Nothing but positive feedback, we love when we read comments that help us better ourselves as artists. Like anyone else we have our fair share of haters but it comes with the success that we’ve been blessed with.

24: In today’s free download age, what do you need to do to make yourself a household name.

10Yards: We could definitely be interacting more so that people know that we’re listening to them, we don’t want to be seen as one of those artists that feel the we’re too good to interact with our fans. We could also be networking a little bit more so that we are known more world wide and not just in certain countries.

24: How do you feel about the current state of the Hip-Hop scene?

10Yards: The current state of Hip-Hop is interesting because we don’t have a lot of the game changers still doing their thing, its being taken over by a lot of younger inexperienced rappers that want to live the life that they rap about. 10Yards is here to stay relevant and here to be constant in what we do, whereas we have new artists that fall off after a couple of hits.

24: Outside of the music, what else are you currently working on.

10Yards: Being that music is what we live for we try not to stray away too far from our focus, but we are currently dabbling in the clothing business. Being that we have a certain style and taste we like for our fans to experience that with our clothing that they themselves can feel comfortable in.

24: Where do you see yourself going in 2012 and how do you plan to separate yourself from the other artist out today to get the recognition you feel you deserve?

10Yards: We see ourselves traveling more and making the bigger moves necessary to receive the recognition that we want, artists today rap ,about the here and now not always remaining relevant, 10Yards intends on making a world wide statement with our music in a way giving them no choice but to listen to what we have to say and remaining on their play lists.

24: How can fans go about contacting you?

10Yards: We are big on making sure that we are on social networks and interact with out fans when our schedule allows us. We’re on twitter @TenYards1 and Facebook: Ten Yards, they can also feel free to e-mail us at: sd10yardsmusic@yahoo.com
