24hourhiphop.com gets a chance to sit down with Brooklyn rap group Aisle 7. Aisle 7 is an upcoming group within a bigger group called Jblokdiciples. Aisle 7 tells us about how they came up, also life growing up in there neighborhood. We also learn about their musical influences, current projects out, and future projects. We also get to check out some dope videos as well. Make sure to check out Aisle 7 and let us know what you think!

24HHH: Introduce yourself to everyone that doesn't already know who you are.

Aisle 7: We are called Aisle 7, a lyrical rap group from Cannarsie, Brooklyn, New York, within a bigger group

called Jblokdisciples. The three members of Aisle 7 are MC Mankind, Frost-Bite and JMoneyMatters.

24HHH: Before we get into your music, can you describe your history about how you got into and what inspired you?

Aisle 7: Jblokdisciples formed in 2006 and Aisle 7 started in 2009 and we officially started releasing music in 2012.

We grew up listening to mostly a mixture of lyrical rap and rock music from artists such as Eminem, Nas and

Linkin Park. We liked the fact that they strayed away from the mainstream sound and made their own unique

sound and we have the potentail to get close to their level. We're inspired to change the music world, not

just to be and sound like another ordinary group.

24HHH: What was the hip hop scene like for you growing up where your from

Aisle 7:  No one was really doing anything music related where we live and so basically we just lived off of mixtapes,

albums and the internet, to hear the artists that we liked.

24HHH: What makes you unique as an artist and different from other rappers out now

Aisle 7: Well we aren't one artist, we're a mixture of three different musical talents, ideas, flows, words and

approaches. Even though we're in the same group, we do not rap the same or even share the same flow or

techniques. We don't rap about mainstream topics and we incorporate multiple genres into our music.

24HHH: Tell us about what you are working on?

Aisle 7: We are working on our second mixtape called 'Forbidden Sands' and also official music videos for our first

mixtape 'Territorial Disagreements'.

24HHH: What producers have you worked with and who would you like to work with in the future

Aisle 7: We haven't worked with mainstream producers but we would like to work with The Alchemist, DJ Premier, Mr

Porter of D12, Just Blaze, Havoc, Swizz Beatz, Timbaland, Rick Rubin and especially Dr Dre and Eminem.

24HHH: Are you happy with the feedback you have been getting from people on material you have released

Aisle 7: Yes, but we want a larger audience to listen and experience our sound and give us feedback so that we can

improve.

24HHH: In todays free download age, what do you need to do to make yourself a household name

Aisle 7: We have to be different from everyone else and our sound has to appeal to different audiences. However, we

will continue making the kind of music that we want to make not to just apppeal to the mainstream sound.

24HHH: How do you feel about the current state of the hiphop scene?

Aisle 7: Truthfully, the golden age of lyrical rap and unique music has flown out the window and there are very few

artists out there that are continuing to create tasteful music. We want to enter the hiphop scene to

make the future state of hiphop better and to show that unique music has not died.

24HHH: Outside of the music what else are you currently working on?

Aisle 7: We all either go to college, work or both.

24HHH: Where do you see yourself going in 2013 and how do you plan to separate yourself from the other artist

out today to get the recognition you feel you deserve?

Aisle 7: Since we just officially started releasing music, we aren't sure we're we will be going so we'll just go where

the music takes us. To seperate ourselves, we will continue to be ourselves and we will not change just for the

music industry, we'll continue to make music that we like and hopefully, our audience grows larger and

continues to like it as well. We don't feel that we deserve recognition right now, however we're trying to

get to that level.
