24: Introduce yourself to everyone that doesn’t already know who you are.

Amadou King: Usually introduced as a breath of fresh air. Straight from Senegal representing the world im a young fly, flashy dude born in a niche to represent the future… in a classic kind of way.

24: Before we get into your music, can you describe your history about how you got into and what inspired you?

Amadou King: I’ve been writing for a long time now. I would say since i was 14 or 13… and I’m… 24 now so 10 years!. But i was never serious about it. I guess as a kid you do things sometimes just to do them. I would listen to a lot of “The Lox” growing up i guess that was a big influence on my music which is something you probably wouldn’t be able to recognize at first listen… But the idea of starting a music career never really dawned on me until i started an internship at Universal Music Group back in ’08 (big shout out to Harry Weinger). That’s what really made me say I WANT TO DO THIS… I GOT TO DO THIS.

24: What was the Hip-Hop scene like for you growing up where you’re from?

Amadou King: I grew up all over the place – like literally, so i drew from a lot of different styles of hip hop. My dad being an African diplomat I was in Cameroon one year, and the next i was in Indonesia. So i got to listen to a lot of different artists and types of music. And believe it or not hip-hop was well and alive in all those places, just like the states. Hip hop is live EVERYWHERE, believe that. But yeah… I’m part of the new generation of rappers. I wish i could tell you i grew up on Big Daddy Kane, Rakim etc… But I’d be lying like hell. I’m proud to say that I grew up listening to Pac, Biggie, Nas, Jay-z, DMX, 50 cent, Jadak and Kanye etc. and some international rappers too, like booba and la fouine!

24: What makes you Unique as a artist and different from other rappers out now?

Amadou King: I would say that my sound is a mix of every kind of hip-hop there is out there. You name it, I vibe with it. And I think that’s what makes me original – the fact that I’m able to create various types of sounds, but to remain Hip-Hop. Not to mention you can find rap, love songs such as “fight for your love” as well as Hip-Hop, techno songs like “All I Know” on my mixtape. I’m not scared to try new things and test boundaries. I’m like Hip-Hop’s boyfriend #2…doing all the things other rappers won’t.

24 Tell us about what you are working on.

Amadou King: Right now I’m working on my second mixtape which should be available early 2012. I’m also shooting videos for my first mixtape so be on the look out for that!

24: What producers have you worked with and who would you like to work with in the future?

Amadou King: I got my own production team. All great producers that I believe in. You got Sam Hell (that’s his real name by the way haha), Ziz-boy, FM Basic who is a producer based in Europe, and The Kid K.C. That’s the Full Oligarchs Production Team. I also worked with my brother Solomon IZ on the first mixtape. As far as future producers I would love to have Eminem produce a track for me and most definitely kanye west, and Dr. Dre.

24: Are you happy with the feedback you have been getting from people on material you have released?

Amadou King: Yes. I’m more than happy, but I’m also incredibly grateful for everything that’s happening to me right now. I work day and night and it’s finally starting to pay off.

24: In today’s free download age, what do you need that you don’t to make yourself a household name

Amadou King: You need patience. If you want to have a solid and long career in this game you need a solid fan base and that only comes with time… That said, I plan to be in it for the long hall.
